DX Tip: 570 CFCB Corner Brook NL

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 16 Aug 2019 08:40

570 was a quiet channel here this morning. This station was heard throughout the morning. VOCM IDs noted at sunrise peak at 03:34.

Good DX!

It was on the flag, Simon.

I won't be doing any Beverage tests for a week or more as the beverage setup is on my girlfriend's farm. She will be staying with me this weekend, so it's flag reception only for a while.

Well, there's a coincidence. Not having an aerials up at the moment, I was reviewing a sunrise recording from 11th December 2018 on a pa0rdt mini-whip at about 4m and up popped 570 CFCB with the VOCM id's. Also confirmed 590 VOCM and 710 CKVO.

Having recently started MW dx-ing in the UK with this old recording, these are amongst my first TA stations.

The flag is ready for final assembly. The cable runs back into the house are sorted - through the roof and into the 3rd bedroom upstairs. So when the summer grandchildren season finishes in mid-September the aerials will get a proper testing. Also been working diligently getting acquainted with Jaguar. Exciting times ahead for this season.

 Ah yes, that summer grandchildren season. I don't have any more of those, very thankfully. How does that old saying go? Children should not be seen and not be heard? Yes, that's the one!

Here's wishing you a very successful DX season! :)
