Can this really be Thailand so far out of season?

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 13 Jul 2019 00:17

Recorded on 1575 at 22:00 this evening:

A decent signal!

What's he saying at 20 seconds? "Welcome to the Voice Of America, in ???????"

Surely this cannot possibly be Thailand with such a good signal. Who else is carrying VOA on 1575?

(That horrible neon light type interference is the jammer on 1575.)

Edit: I can also (just) hear the HLAZ time signal on 1566 at 22:00. This is incredible.

Khmer, pronounced Kam-eye.
So it's aimed at Cambodia, so must be Thailand.

Wow! Thanks Peter. Need an emoji for 'blown away'. Absolutely stunned! It's JULY!

*If* this is a taste of what's to come this solar minimum, there are going to be some big surprises this season. Wow! Wow! and more Wow!

Blimey John that's an amazing signal! Even more so as it's the middle of summer.
Good DX.

It's one of the strongest signals I have ever heard from them. I am just waiting for somebody to tell me that there's a new replay somewhere in the Gulf.

You're welcome John. Nice clear signal.
Fortunately I've spent several weeks in Cambodia so know how to pronounce "Khmer" like they do.
( Similar to Cymru being pronounced Kum-ree by the Welsh)

Same again this evening at 22:00. Not quite the signal as the 12th, but still fair levels.
