small FM transmitters

Post by eastangliauk » 07 May 2019 20:58

hello
Has anyone tried one of these FM transmitters and I dought ofcom would worry about it?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123394285121
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D5_UDKWW0AItEJy.jpg:large
it claims 100 meters which is all I really need and I guess that would cover maybe next door if lucky.
I will only use the low setting.
thanks
was also looking at this one but think its not far enough range to bottom shead in back of garden

WRT to the frequency response I suspect something was lost in translation from Chinglish by ZHENGLV XU 15000Hz 15kHz would be the expected top end response. Also worth noting is the transmitter coverage down to 60MHz, I'd not be able to resist the temptation of hooking up a Spectrum Communications 4M amplifier to get some OIRT Logs during the SpE season.

I got my transmitter today funny because its missing the rubber aerial through a bit of wire seems to work OK I can tune down to FM 64.5 on my little radio.
I have a wire plugged in the signal is stronger than my local station just down the road on 100.2 FM.

Having seen this post I bought one of these for testing and mucking about with. You get some big harmonics out of them. I put mine on 105 and sure enough, there are harmonics up to 420MHz. Up close, quite a bit of noise but that's kind of to be expected.

Amazing that Ofcom haven't clamped down on the sale of illegal mp3 transmitters, but then again not that amazing as Ofcom are bad at most things.

Mine did come with the mini aerial BTW.

I'm going to measure the power output at some point.

I am presuming the video is you unboxing your Ebay sourced transmitter that arrived missing the rubber aerial, that being so what is it that looks like a rubber aerial at 2:10?

for some reason, there is no connector and will not screw in.

Yes, it looks like you only have the rubber and not the actual aerial, which is a long coil of wire with a screw thread on the end.

By the way - what's this? - https://youtu.be/VUp0TN37uvk?t=211

Testing on 645 mhz just about reaches the beach I could maybe make the wire longer to make it go further but not going to.

I have been trying to charge mine today.

It puts out so much noise that it can overload my SDR Play and makes my Mackie powered speakers hum. This isn't switched on and broadcasting, this is just plugging the USB charger into it. It isn't even stable, the nature of the noise changes over time.
