HS Publications D100 Box

Post by PascalD » 13 Jan 2019 22:29

I have collected this afternoon from an english tv dxer who lives over the valley a D100 box also 2 antennes for use with the box. I ask him what can the D100 box receive and he told me that it receive continental tv channels during the summer and sometimes tropospheric conditions, but will i find use for this equipment or not?

Hi Pascal,

Yes with a Band 1 dipole you may still get Russian sporadic E signals this coming season until they switch off the network. Outside of Russia there isn't much left on band 1 now unless you are lucky enough to get some exotic stuff from Africa, Middle east or central/south America. D100's are excellent units I've owned several since getting my first in 1984. Veteran TV DXer Garry Smith from Derby makes them.

Hello Chris, i notice you have a 48-82MHz dipole but i was given a antenne 5 elements but is big for my installation. What dimension cm is your dipole for may be it is possible for adapt the original antenne,

Je vous remercie

Hi Pascal,

I'm afraid I don't know the dimensions off hand and can't get to it to measure it at the moment. However it should be easy to work out the rod lengths as the active dipole rods are cut for 48Mhz and the passive one in front is cut to 82MHz, these are only approximate figures. The spacing between them is about 3 inches so 3.36 cm approx. You can use this on line calculator to work out the length of the rods http://www.csgnetwork.com/antennaedcalc.html
Hope that helps.

Hello Chris

Thank you for your guide and i check for 3" separation between dipole and reflector which calculate 7.62cm and non 3.36cm, is this correct ?
