DAB power increase in UK

Post by sleeper77 » 09 Nov 2018 21:12

I was listening to Absolute 80s yesterday & the presenter mentioned about UK DAB recently getting a a power increase of transmitters. The initial aim I presume apart from extending national coverage & minimizing signal dropout is to get new listeners to digital radio.

To what I have seen online, it seems only Sound Digital is getting this power increase. I would not be surprised if local & regional MUXes will eventually follow.

Information about the planned power increase found here...

Since Sound Digital came to Norwich it's been less reliable than Digital 1. A shame that most of the stations (including D1) are in mono too! I still don't have much motivation to upgrade my car stereo to DAB while they're still mono.

DAB = overcompressed muffled audio for me. Like YouTube.
Normal FM Stereo with good sound processor settings is MUCH better.
