True to form, I went to the radio room early this morning and switched on the computer, fully intending to listen straight away. I checked emails first. Two hours later I realised I still hadn't run the SDR software, so I clicked on the icon. Then it took me another hour or more before I actually switched it on. That's been so normal here for a long time. I am easily distracted by other things.

Lille was at good levels around 11am but it's gone back to it's fluttery self now (at 12:20).

Good DX!

I wonder if the 5C temperatures of the North Sea will be helping this along? Remember 2013 anyone? Some of the best tropo I have known and this also followed a cold and extended winter with the North Sea temperatures being below average.
Aye 08/07/2013 mega tropo to Germany when my band went from English to German that was after a cold Winter/Spring produced some excellent tropo.

Andy
That relies on us having a decent summer. This year ends with an "8" and, though it is simply a statistical quirk, that fact alone seems to guarantee a poor summer. The last summer in a year ending in 8 warmer drier and sunnier than normal was... 1878!

In my lifetime, 1978, 1988, 1998 and 2008 were all utter stinkers. All four had ok Junes, if a little mixed. Julys/Augusts were poor. July 1988 was especially notorious - we've not had a colder one since.
Too young to remember 1968.

Yesterday here conditions were about the same as Monday evening so nothing special. Today Wednesday nothing much so far but Hepburn suggests it should get better as the day goes by.

Nothing special here at the moment. Only high powered French transmitters such as Lille, Caen, Rouen can be heard, with Lille being the strongest. Very unstable signals.

Deeply disappointing, and yet another dismal downgrade from one of several organisations who can't predict the nose on the end of their face. (Not Hepburn - whoever he gets the data from.) Tropo. Aurora. Solar activity. Weather forecasting. Total disappointments, the lot of them.

Nothing from nothing here as well.

BTW, I need your advice on some 'supposed' AS receptions : for 2 or 3 days, I've been catching, by stealth (5 seconds max), north italian stations in a range of 150-350 km . I first thought it was aircraft scatter, but there's actually no clear fade in / out with the typical 'fluttering' sound (not sure it's the proper word to describe it but you guess what I refer to !). Could it rather be MS bursts (Lyrids ?) or 'something else' ?

Any tip / advice is much appreciated !

Zilch happening up here very disappointing but not surprised with the way conditions have been in the past year.

There is some lift here now from Belgium. Rowridge is booming too.

Edit: add South East

Here, Wrotham/London/Essex enhanced somewhat as well as Caen, Cherbourg and Les Platons, but that's about it. No sign of the extensive German and French tropo that was being forecast until recently. Pathetic.
Good DX.

Seem to have lost all BBC stations on FM & DAB here.
Kiss is going on dab but the main ones missing are radio 1 & 2 on 97.7 & 88.1 just no where. or BBC radio 1 DAB.

Well, you should have heard the strength of the Polish on band 2 this morning! You should have done. But you didn't! I didn't. None of us did! Well, maybe somebody in Poland did.

One thing I will say though, is the strength of the scatter. THAT at least is up a little. But no tropo.

True to form again, I ran the FDM-S2 software this morning around 8:45. Finally, after many distractions, I switched it on at 10:12. I have ended up being as reliable as the tropo forecasts.

Actually I think I jinxed the tropo by having this week off work. No doubt it would have been a spectacular one otherwise!

South East was well enhanced earlier this morning, with Manningtree lifting up since yesterday night. Even now, I can get 103.9 BBC R. Norfolk with a listenable signal. I had some new low power signals on a vertical dipole. Nothing much on horizontal, except usual Lille.
