Yep. Agreed. I am not bothering. The Es are stuck in a rut. I have more important things to do.

This is my first ES season, do you think this is the worst season in a while? I'm asking more experienced DXers ;)

(Having a moan now - not like me at all !!! ;) )

I keep seeing all the DX making it through down south. They really are hogging it down there.

It's luck of the draw. Sometimes I see repetitive daily loops of Es up in northern Scandinavia. It's SPORADIC! There's a clue in the name, which some people don't seem to realise. It does make you wonder why some places have relatively few Es. I know people say that some parts of the world are relatively more prone to Es than others, but it still doesn't add up to me. Es are still random and can appear anywhere.

I have been beaming south for the last hour, watching all the southerners enjoying the Es yet again. Nothing here at all. It is kind of demoralising, but my DX interests are waning at the moment so I care not. I am hoping for good things in the next MW season, but I am not wishing for winter to arrive just yet. I have a lot of noise issues to clear up first - if I can achieve that.

So, moaning as always, I have no great interest in DX for the moment. I rarely even look at the DX charts these days. If I miss anything, I only have myself to blame, but I have too many other things to worry about. (Switches the radio off again.)

Moan over. (For now.)

Good one! My plan is to try Beveraging it for African MW DX at a spot just outside town. My leisure battery is fully charged and ready to go. Just waiting for the right conditions.

Well, I often find myself comparing today's FMlist logs to those of last year... receptions are ALWAYS less this year.

Heavy duty 110 amp hours, made by Leisure Giant, whoever they are.

I guess this is the modern version of it. https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/p ... 0-leisure-

battery/ I've had it a few years now. Still works fine. Regularly re-charged. Looks like it's come down in price too. Cost me £94 from what I remember.

I would like to buy some replacement screw covers for the cells. Nobody sells them.

I really begin to wonder, if there will be anything ELSE to hear this summer rather than Spain.
I am fed up with this. Never experienced such a lousy and boring season ever since. Boooring!

Absolutely. No disrespect to Spain and the Spanish. I love Spain and have visited twice, but Spain is my least favourite European country to DX. It's always the same old stations. The only time I can summon the enthusiasm to DX Spain is when conditions are open to the top of the band and I can rotate my antenna to the vertical plane and hunt down the locals.

That's the first time I have seen their website. Good prices and free next day delivery too! Also some good car battery prices, just for the record.

What a great time to get started D: only heard something different from Spain three/four times this year. Twice to the north, twice to the east.

Not about getting nostalgic feelings, but from 2017, I remember one day with FM logs from Serbia, Bosnia, Crna Gora, Macedonia, Republika Kosova and Hungary last year. Also heard Albania four times, one day there was Iceland for 2 hours, also Finland (heard FIN at least one evening every year for 10 years now, but not in 2018 so far). Furthermore, some very good (not high MUF but strong signals) openings towards Romania / Bulgaria, few days with interesting logs from Greece ad Turkey with nearly all Istanbul frequencies present at RDS level. Inselradio Mallorca could be heard with full news programme for ~ 30 minutes quite stable. Malta signals were well audible. For the very first time ever, I picked up Poland via E-Skip in Germany, which I have never could imagined because this is supposed to be tropo distance (less than 800 km twice with RDS, less than 700 km once at low power).

On OIRT I could record tons of audio material from Belarus, Russia, Moldova and Ukraine between the full range of 66-74 MHz, even my first RDS log, very good stereo and polar stereo stations, many different locals from RUS / BLR and all of this for up to 3 hours. There were Radio Tosno Plus, Svitle Immanuel, Vocea Besarabiei etc.

Worth to mention, one day I have caught up dozens of stations from Ukraine on CCIR with RDS up to 102 MHz, while the audio and video carrier of R5 (!) were present for many hours on 93.23 and 99.75 MHz. At the same time, Pridnestrowie came in for some hours on 88.8 FM, heard the whole news edition. Also MUZ FM, NOROC and Radio ZUM from Chisinau for example.

My best memory? My first ES reception at the beginning of May, Gaztea on 94.7 from the Basque Country while looking for a local station. Full PS and radiotext. That's when it all got started!
