Nothing much happening, but the last couple of nights Radio Sucre has been coming in on 700 from Ecuador. Around 04:00 this morning was best for me. Then it disappeared for a bit and was back at about 0506

I recorded again overnight, first night for several. Two stations on 1490, the dominant one being religious. I guess these are WBAE and WMBM, but no IDs. Both sit bang on frequency. y

There was a fair bit of TA around, though weak. My noise levels were very much lower overnight this time - even in the middle of the band!

HJAY Radio Vida Nueva also popped up on 1490 at times with their familiar flute call. Offset is down around 1489.9831.

700 had three signals. All too weak, but I'm sure WLW was one of them.

Thanks David. I was trying to work out what station it was earlier, but there was nothing at exact toh and I had to go out before listening further. Typically, though I get a fade just as the callsign is given.

John - I also have 3 carriers on 700. the middle one is WLW. Radio Sucre is the lower one (comes in as 699.992 for me). ID this morning at 0329'28. I haven't had a signal from the upper carrier.

Thanks Simon. I'll check in more detail as I have time. So busy lately. I have seriously neglected radio and that is unforgivable! But I will be out of the MW hobby shortly anyway, only recording occasionally to test new Jaguar software releases. I started to record last night but the blow-out made me switch off. Almost non-stop bombardments in recent days and forecasts have been completely unreliable.

Thanks for the continuing tips David, Simon.

I upset the balance of the flag a few days ago and haven't been able to reduce noise levels since, but I made some improvements yesterday. There is still some work to do. Now I know where my noise is coming from I realise I cannot get rid of it completely, but I should be able to reduce it on parts of the band if I carefully adjust the flag's resistor.

Even though there was noise overnight (4th), I still heard good signals from KXEL 1540, which surprised me. Conditions have quietened down nicely again, but this is the first morning I have actually heard any North American signals. NOTHING at all has been getting through from across the pond in the last week, whereas I know one or two other DXers have been hearing a few interesting signals.

I will probably put MW DX into retirement now until the autumn.

Noise this morning was between 05:22 to 05:27 and much weaker than usual. No noise AT ALL on 1230 though. Why the immunity I have no idea. No splatter either!

I hear stations on 1230 and 1140. Both had music, which I think rules out RCN 1140 as I believe they are probably all talk. Too weak and choppy to discern.

Thanks again David.

1490 may have been productive for some?

Last few days have been frustrating. I've had quite a few good (and interesting looking) latin signals, but nearly all are continuous music or I can't pull an ID out. Added to which I got some water in my ear and am slightly deaf - doesn't help !
