Re: The Conditions Thread
Thanks for that.
What I presume is North Korea is coming in on 819 kHz on the Kongsfjord SDR with an excitable OM, with music in the background. Also a strange whirring noise coming and going. Possibly another station from the Far East in the background with music.
Good DX.

Re: The Conditions Thread
Which frequency did you manage to get this asian one?? Might this be Thailand or Vietnam?? or even Cambodia, Laos... !?
819 was audible all day long but only by S=2 / O=1-2. however, the start up with test tone and interval signal was clearly on.
the loud noise (like some mix of DRM audio and waves crushing), fading up and down with the signal of KRE is supposed to come from the same tx. different sources state this some mix-up (cross-modulation) by the original audio and jammers in use at the same site but on another AM frequency (maybe shortwave).
I have heard that sound many times, also between 2024 and 2030 UTC when there is only carrier

Re: The Conditions Thread
A couple of K6 overnight means that it's Goodbye North America for a few days, apart from the regular east coasters.
Re: The Conditions Thread
Next Korean station in my log. HLAZ on 1566kHz is fighting against BBC Somerset:
Re: The Conditions Thread
Taiwan Fishermen Station gives a very good signal today @ 1143 kHz. Signal fading up to S=3 and then cannot be heard for minutes. If anyone wants to log or QSL this one, try it NOW.
Also VOA Afrique from Sao Tome with good signal @ 1530 kHz. Broadcasting health prevention show in french language. NOW. Both will give ID in a minute.

Re: The Conditions Thread
guess the winter's season is already over yet. none remarkable activity was heard the last 2 days after conditions were really lousy yesterday (except from a short period at night when Faroe and Ireland were strong). plus heard the blackbird singing 2day. spring`s there and sporadic-E is awaiting our attention very soon.-.

Re: The Conditions Thread
It certainly is. I have been catching up with my FM Es files from last summer. Plenty to get through, but MW never goes out of season ... completely. Our window of DX is just shorter. Much shorter in fact, peaking around 0200 to 0400, with some Brazilians coming in earlier than that. It's the South American and African season. Especially during the months of July and August. As MW and FM DXers, we are never truly out of season, just out of conditions most lot of the time.
There was plenty of activity on MW overnight, but regular stations only. Nice to hear WMDD on 1480 again. I thought they had gone off the air after hurricane damage last year.

Re: The Conditions Thread
After N. Korea signed on at 2029 UTC, 819 kHz AM frequency is now occupied again by China.
Who ever wanted to log or Qsl "Shanxi RGD" , try it NOW !!! Signal fading in between S=2 and 4
with remarkable flute tunes. 1377 is also present, 1521 has been too

Re: The Conditions Thread
I think that Gospel station is hanging around 1510 late evening again. A brief peak at 2315 and a sign off at 2318 on 1510.0018.
Nothing to hear here, but one worth keeping an eye on now conditions are quietening down again. https://youtu.be/LpPeHptjWZY

Re: The Conditions Thread
Sounds like a religious daytimer dropping power at 23:15 on 1470. Clear, briefly.
Re: The Conditions Thread
Transatlantic DX looks good this morning. There are even some big signals above 1600 khz.

Re: The Conditions Thread
Anybody got anything on their recordings just before 0600 on 1460. I had WHIC with an ETWN ID just after the hour and that is the only station I have logged on this frequency, but just before the hour mixing with WHIC was this :-
https://app.box.com/s/a0f8vjyl9we34e3z370el8ss528opj7q
All I can hear is 1460 AM......FM..... I'm sure it is a different station to WHIC as I can here the OM talk on WHIC continuing with the announcement. Has anyone got a better recording ?
