Getting ahead of myself,Machynys peninsula 6/2018

Post by Tim Bucknall » 08 Feb 2018 11:25

Family holiday/dxpedition Machynys, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, south Wales.

I was intending to do the full preparation thing, googling compiling and printing relevant target lists etc but my arms and shoulders hurt too much.

So anyone dxed from down here before?
Any overload issues?

This is probably the only part of Wales I have never visited. The nearest I have DXed to there is New Quay. That had a very good north-facing car park on the sea front, but I'm sure you'd prefer to be looking at south-facing directions if anything.

Nowhere near, but Aberystwyth had some nice hills taking off to the west. Irish reception there was very impressive.

Adapt an amateur radio tape measure antenna: http://www.hcra.org/2013/01/09/vhf-3el- ... ruary-1st/

In fact, if you did decide to build an antenna, B&Q have some reasonably priced steel rods available: https://www.diy.com/departments/buildin ... 570162.cat
