88.9 UK Bass Southampton - with a shoutout to Nick G

Post by sleeper77 » 30 May 2017 19:06

Programme sounded pre-recorded, as the presenter gave the wrong time. He said ten to four, but it was actually ten to three. Station was only on air from 1400 to 1600 hrs & went off the air & never come back that day. Nothing else heard since.

I'm curious to know if anybody heard anything on 87.5 from Bristol direction a couple of months back. Somebody from London heard it was reaching Reading and drove from there to take it off, so it didn't last long. Got told about it a couple of weeks late, and I hadn't been tuning around much so didn't hear it myself.

My thoughts were it was possibly the Southampton lot trying something different. It was a 500W Chinese rig on a hill apparently, playing DnB from a laptop.

I was checking some old recordings yesterday, & I came across one of a pirate on 87.5 named Faze FM in 2015. They do go on air very randomly, even a year apart for their transmissions. I have not had a pirate on 87.5 for a very long time but maybe they (or some other station) were on air although must have been for a very short while.

Is UK Raw from London still going on 87.5? I could receive that quite well during northern tropo lifts.

I have read that UK Raw has changed frequency since Flex FM got a license. It was still on 87.5 when this other pirate appeared near Bristol though.

Aye same here I read they are now using 99.7 which is not a good frequency here I do wonder why move off 87.5 a clear frequency.

Change of management I think.
