UNID on 96.2 from Belarus? - maybe VladDor can help

Post by Nick Gilly » 11 Aug 2018 14:32

Vladimir Doroshenko's mention of the crazy E-skip of June 18th 2017 had me listening to some clips and I came across one I'd forgotten about. This is on 96.2, and the main signal is Yumor FM from Vitebsk, but there's an UNID 'cultural'-sounding station xfading with it:

Any ideas on the second station? Is this also from Belarus?

Thanks.
Good DX.

its a story

"how the children....(faded)...lady (probably the virgin mary in this context).. maybe (they) searched yesterday...how (much ) further the children.../remember"

Thanks Tim. Interesting. It certainly sounds plausible from the notes for LRT Klasika on FMLIST.
Good DX.

Hello Nick,

Almost all time in that recording we hear Yumor FM from Vitebsk. An UNID 'cultural'-sounding station is namely Yumor FM.

I give you a link to that program "Tamada" with Soso Pavliashvili: http://humorfm.by/program/27

Only at the begining we hear a fragment of song "Web дизайн" (=Web design) by group Аквамарин (=Aquamarine) from another russian speaking FM station.

I guess you received that using vertically polarized antenna. Another belorussian station ( from Minsk) on 96.2 MHz is horizontally polarized (if FMLIST info is correct). All other russian speaking stations are situated farther than Vitebsk, and they are in Russia.

Hi fmdxua, and thanks very much. This was received with a horizontal Körner 9.2. I didn't realise there were three stations on this clip.

OK, I think this is clearer now. The music station at the beginning is a Russian language station, best guess EHR Russkie Hiti from Rīga, Latvia. The station that fades in at 24 seconds is Yumor FM with the OM and the choral music in the background, presumably a promo for "Tamada." Then, confusingly, a third station fades in at 1 min 13 with different choral/classical music, but then Yumor FM takes over again at about 1 min 28 secs for the remainder of the recording until it fades out.
Good DX.

Hi Nick,

Frankly speaking, I have heared only two different stations in your recording.

If you used horizontal Körner 9.2, most likely the station with russian song since 00:00 min is from Minsk or Rīga.

Unfortunately, I don't have an experience of listening FM stations from Belarus or Latvia. So I have sent your file to Rolands Strautmalis, he is a well experienced DX-man. And he guesses EHR Russkie Hiti from Rīga, Latvia as well, however it should be checked.

Great that the Belarusian language px is actually from Belarus! The language revival is working!

FMLIST only lists yumor FM as being in Russian

I'm affraid, my English is not good enough. What does it mean exactly "language px" and why belorussian language was mentioned if no one belorussian word was sounded in Nick's recording?

px = abbreviation for programmes, i assumed it was Belarusian or a hybrid of Belarusian & Russian because i could understand it - i don't speak Russian

congrats on having received Radio Vitebsk outside the OIRT-UKV band.
the other must have been Радио Мелодии Века 96,2 from Minsk/Belarus.
they describe theirselves as a "unique programme with sounds from the past".

however, EHR Русские Хиты Рига would also possible regarding direction+distance.
this station was called "Russkoe Radio - Hiti Rossii 96,2" until some years ago.
but their musical selection does not seem to fit 100 percent to what you have heard.

First of all as Oleksandr wrote

no one belorussian word was sounded in Nick's recording
and I'm surprised that colleagues can hear the opposite.

What we can hear in the recording:
1) 0:00 - 0:23 and 0:34 - 0:37 Russian song by the band "Аквамарин" ("Aquamarine")
Most likely it's Melodii Veka from Kalodziščy (Minsk region), 70 degrees from you. It isn't EHR Russkie Hiti from Rīga (59°), because I asked the station technician to check the playlist of that day, but there was no such song. Besides their musical selection is Russian songs in Europop style, but the song by "Аквамарин" fits rock music style.
2) 0:23... almost all the time - at the beginning humorous drinking toast in Russian with Georgian accent and with Caucasian singing in the background in the program "Tamada", ID of program, joke in the program "Yumor BY", ID of program, ID of station, song in accordance with playlist of Belarusian Yumor FM
Yumor FM, Viciebsk, approximately 65 - 66 degrees.
3) 1:13 - 1:28 a capella choral song
Very possible LRT Klasika, Juragiai, 66°

Why in this topic?

-----------

By the way, I received stations from Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina on that day at the same time (+/- 10 minutes), but nothing from the United Kingdom.
