UNID 88.2 Morocco?

Post by zach_m » 18 Jul 2017 22:42

Hi all,

Received this one today at 1831 UTC. No PI code so it's a mystery at the moment. I cannot identify the language, but it's sort of Arabic, local? Straight away, I can rouled out Radio Kef from Tunisia, as their stream didn't matched. I couldn't get a live stream from Medradio (Casablanca) and I have a strange feeling that this could be it. Have a listen folks and post your thoughts. It's about 01:20s recording fading in and out.

Good DX!

It sounds like it might be Berber/Kabyle to me, in which case it would be Chaîne 2 from Saida, Algeria. This was also the same time that Radio Chlef peaked strongly here on 87.7, at >50 dBuV.
Good DX.

Thank you for the tip Nick. Actually, it could be Chaine 1 from Saida. Inoticed French accent whilst listening again. A minue later or so I received Chaine 1 on 87.8 from Mecheria, wich is nearby Saida. At the moment, I'll left this one as unidentified. Saida TX has only 2.50kW and, I noticed that, I'll need a rooftop antenna to pull out PI codes from low powered TX's. Unless signal is strong and clear, otherwise I will end up with unidentified station. It happen to me before. So, it's highly possible that I received Chaine 1 from Saida.

In your recording, "Banque d'Algérie" (Bank of Algeria) is mentioned twice and apart from that the accent indicates that you received an Algerian station.
