84.6,84.7, 84.8 in Baeza, Jaén, Spain ¿Sporadic-e?

Post by manueljbaeza » 31 Jul 2015 16:08

Hi,

I received at my QTH in Baeza (Jaen, Spain) this morning 9-10h, several strange signs that I could not identify. I could distinguish sentences in English and French but I failed to identify them. What will these stations signals at these frequencies of FM?

That is probably intermod from French and British stations via Es.

SW overload sorry :(

although there are some UK intermodulation products in the 84mhz range - ie: the ones re-radiated by Jodrell bank radio telescope, they
are so extremely weak, I would be amazed if they propagated by E skip
also they don't sound like that, the high pitched whistle is a dead give away of Short wave overload,

sounds like you attached your portable to an oversized aerial it couldn't handle

also they're clearly AM signals breaking through rather than FM broadcasts
