88.9 - PI:33D2 PS:Ru----ic - 8/8/2018 Es

Post by bristolpirates » 10 Jun 2019 21:06

Here's an IQ file I'm trying to get some IDs from.

https://mega.nz/#!aMN11SQa!Np96W3LRlevC ... QmCcexoF04

I'm not having much luck getting RDS from anything, but there is one station on 88.9 which I have managed to squeeze something out of.

It repeatedly gives a PI of 33D2 which doesn't appear in the FM List database.

I've also managed to tease 4 characters from the PS - Ru----ic

The singer is Philip Kirkorov singing "Plain History".

I've saved a report from RDS Spy, for what it's worth:

Downloading this now. I hope it plays OK in my FDM-S2. It will be quite a time downloading on my pathetically slow internet connection.

Hopefully more soon.

If not, do you still have SDR Sharp installed?

The answer is... RusMusic!
I played your IQ recording again and again, and got "RusMus--" with RDS Spy

Sadly, "File not reproducible". No, I don't have SDR# installed. Sorry.

// Aha! Posts crossed. Just seen that you have the answer. :)

I've had this station on 22/08/2018. My best guess is that it a Spanish station for Russian tourists, as when I got it it was with a load of other Spanish stations.

There is a "RusRadio" on 102.0 and 106.2 on FMList both listed as being located at Mijas and using PI code of E080 and E000 respectively. And as I received five other Spanish stations at exactly the same time that could only have originated from Mijas it is a fair bet that RusMusic is also located in Mijas. (This was a recording of 87.5 - 96.0 MHz)

Rusradio Marbella is indeed active on several frequencies and on the rusradiomarbella.ru website.
However, there is a 88.9 listed for Mijas with "JAMMFM".

Thanks all!

Lucas, it took me ages to get Ru----ic out of it, so well done getting the other characters!

daveB and PFM907 - It looks like it's changed since last year. FM List says "JAMMFM" is "ex RusMusic, ex-101.3"

You know what I just noticed? It was me who asked for the addition of the PI code 33D2 for this frequency on FMLIST in 2018!
Logically, I found this PI code while making a bandscan via a SpyServer located near Malaga if my memories are correct.

I confirm for Jamm FM, I got the new PI 98AA twice via Sporadic E here last May.

87.9 is Radio Hajj. For some reason they didn't do a Ramadan station last year, but they did do a station linked to a small festival around August. I don't think they have any RDS.

EDIT: I have looked at the recent Ramadan signal from last month, and that does show a vague trace of RDS. It has randomly given a PI of 0723 in RDS Spy very briefly, not repeatable so far. This could be RDS Spy just seeing something that looks like RDS and trying to decode it.
