Warsaw bandscan

Post by Tim Bucknall » 18 Sep 2017 10:44

Hi all, nothing exotic to report because of the qrn but the band is pretty much empty except for Romania & grigoriopol. So I think if I could get away from the noise there is potential for serious Dx on most channels. Romania is a novelty for me, it will be even stronger in lviv next week

My one log, someone on 1602 is off freq creating a strong het

There were some TX shutdowns on fm but no Dx was possible due to overload

That's a shame Tim. Noise gets everywhere.

I can believe it regarding Romanian transmitters. Romania and the UK seem to have more transmitters on MW than anybody else in Europe. At least, that's the way it seems when tuning the band during the evenings.

Hope you had an enjoyable trip.

They do indeed. Thankfully, Spain is not a pain here, in the main.

Really Tim, such disapointment?
It's 21h30 local time and 1521 China is comming booming in here (i'm only 30kms away from Warsaw's centre).
(just heard time beeps in the background of CRI - what the ...?)

Yup, it would be a start of a brand new era of MW DXing in Poland if Romania one day closed down all its AM transmitters. No sign of that so far...

Thanks for the feedback Maciej, the hotel was just too noisy for Dx, the apartment in Lwow is much better for Dx, Im eagerly awaiting darkness!
