axe edge minor enhancement ahead of wx front

Post by Tim Bucknall » 22 May 2016 16:33

87.5 Sound FM (car radio)
87.7 Radio 10, Lelystad (car radio)
87.8 R Nova, DNK (car radio)
87.9 blank carrier via jet scatter (Comm Radio CR-1)
99.9 unid, def not Classic fm (comm radio CR-1)
245.2 R Maria, Managua (Comm Radio CR-1) - 25k filter rules!

sublime sunday afternoon in the countryside, watching the wild hares and cuddly lambs, making hot drinks on my late uncles old dxpedition stove- still has his callsign on after 32 years!

I noticed Kohinoor FM 97.3 running a blank carrier at midday, worth looking for at big distances imo

87.5 Sound FM doesn't seem too troubled by the huge lump of rock known as axe edge
so maybe worth JF et al trying for it

first axe edge trip of the year and first time in many years that there haven't been RSLs blocking the bottom of the band

I arrived at midday and the band was pretty dead but then the bottom of the band started producing a very weak fluttery soup of continentals with sudden violent strength increases
the wx front passed through around 12:45utc and killed off 87.8

feels like the good old days when Axe Edge was "newly discovered" :-)
getting in the mood for aberdaron now!

appreciate any suggestions re: 87.9

Nice! I don't know about 87.9 but could 99.9 be DR P4 from Rangstrup?
Good DX.
