Skegness File: 2015-09-05 (<LW to 49 metres)

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 05 Sep 2015 21:56

Testing the flag antenna. a VERY quiet band below about 1100 kHz, but some noise covering the top of medium wave.

This file includes long wave, through to 6.2 MHz. I don't think there's anything spectacular in here but I haven't studied the file myself yet. With the current conditions I would expect any enhancement to be to the Middle East rather then the far east.

File name: 2015-09-04 1900 (Long Wave - 6.2 MHz).ape

You will need Money's Audio to decompress the file: http://www.monkeysaudio.com/

Couple of questions if I may?

What degree bearing is your Flag pointing at?
What balun are you using?

Cheers

Stuart

The flag is pointing at 30 degrees.

The flag balun is a 3 (primary) and 13 (secondary) turn, through a type 73 binocular. This covers from ~100 kHz to 30 MHz with about 0.3 dB in the centre of the range (1 – 14 MHz approx).

I need to make the flag full mobile today if possible so I can move it around for other directions. I'd like to beam towards South America, but I don't expect it will be a good direction from here. I'm sure I will be inundated with Spanish stations too, but we'll see what happens.

Did you download the file Stuart? Just wondered what you thought to the general band conditions here.
