Is it worth / safe talking any radio related equipment to KIev ?

For everything "Off Topic"! Here you can discuss, rant, rave, in fact talk about anything non radio-related. Forum etiquette rules still apply.

Is it worth / safe talking any radio related equipment to KIev ?

Post by dxradiofan » 03 Dec 2018 13:25

Sorry I know this is about radio but don't know where else to post it. I plan to stay in kiev next month but I really want to take a few radios or at least certainly an RTL SDR device with laptop for scanning the bands etc. Is analogue tv still active btw ? I guess not anymore

I just wonder if I am going to get questions asked at customs about my intentions etc or am I fussing about nowt ?

My experience with this topic is generally i only have to explain my radio equipment when passing through our Fench airport securitie because they are suspicious for everything but normally i explain the equipment use and they are okay. In the countries i have visited Poland, Croatie, Bulgare i have never a problem for a dipole + receiver but maybe prudence for you because Moscou and Kiev are possible building for another conflict and if you have a big sight-seeing antenne you can attract attention from the not wanted type :o

Good luck and dx ;)

Yes this is what worries me, nothing booked yet anyway...Perhaps I'll take just a normal OIRT capable radio
