Hello, I have SDR Sharp ver1.0.0.666 Software for receiving FM with tv also and would like for knowing if there is a better free software disponible?
I note that SDR v3 is available but is it a software improvement and function okay with R820T2 also can such USB devices emulate replace specialized radio/ tuner equipment which have dsp filtering for use in crowded fm band?

The cheap RTL chip devices will overload in crowded bands - they are 8 bit devices. You can try and use low/high pass filters as appropriate.

That is what i have found using a cheap R820T2 SDR as at my location just South East of Paris the fm band seems impossible but using a Sony XDR F1HD the fm is dx'able. I also think a Oukitel K3 mobile i have is better than the SDR dongle as although the K3 radio overloads it is quite selective with an example being RFI 89.0 & BBC R2 89.1 during a recent short tropospheric opening last week adapted for use with an outside fm antenne. It is true normally RFI overloads onto 89.1 but when BBC R2 was very strong during the opening the K3 was able for receiving it. I hope you understand my meaning?

Hi Pascal,
I am using SDR Sharp Build 1655 with an RTL dongle. I SDR# the best software overall because of the plug-ins available. I use a plug-in for the reception of analogue TV on Band I.

But it doesn't matter what software you use - in a city with many nearby strong transmitters you will find the RTL dongle easily overloads. I am just far enough away from strong transmitters to be able to use RTL dongles for band scanningand logging DX automatically.

I second Dave about SDR#.
The most disappointing one is probably SDRuno (former Studio 1).
