Shortest e skip log i can easily find
87.7 NDR 1 Flensburg 788km 6th July 2019 - yes that was quite a day!
Choppy poss backscatter, does this still qualify?

Is my Uzbek R5 (5479km) the second furthest band 2 reception after Paul’s Alabama?
It’s right on the Afghan border and
is 1000kw so I guess I had help with this one!

Low power dx records would be interesting but complicate and cumbersome to list

I think you mean Sporadic E?
I've received Band 2 much farther than that ;)

Here are mine.

Longest path through tropo:
1204 kms, July 20th 2017, with a Sangean ATS-909 from Quercianella (on the Tyrrenian Coast, 10 kms south from Livorno/Leghorn) to Tripoli/Tarabulus in Lybia (Al Watanya on 96.6 and a plenty of "tentative" receptions*).
I also have a video of those dxs, but I've never posted it on YT.
http://www.fmlist.org/fm_logmap.php?dat ... band=Tropo

Shortest Es reception:
679 kms, May 21st, 2018, with a DE-1103 from Santa Barbara (in the middle of Tuscany) to Monte Cammarata (87.7 Radio Italia but also 87.9 Radio 105 and 91.1 Rai Radio 1).
No, it wasn't tropo: the weather was rainy and temperature low.
http://www.fmlist.org/fm_logmap.php?dat ... 6&band=ALL

* I also received very likely Radio Msallata on 88.3 (1252 Km), but in lack of a certain identification I can not assume it as my record :(
Rxs: Degen DE-1103, Sangean ATS-909, and the newcomer Tecsun PL-398 MP

Nice to hear about stuff I’d forgotten or managed to miss at the time.

Some patterns are visible:
peak TA seems consistently to be June 24 -26th
The pattern is so strong that dxpeditions could be planned around it

All of my best stuff is in the tiny window below 88 or otherwise on split channels like the doomed OIRT tv allocations 91.75, 93.25

We all really miss high power A6/87.75!

Come on Peter tell us your TEP logs!

The videos have been in my YouTube channel for years. I can't remember where the written logs are, I've had a dozen computers since 2001 :)
Martina Franca Italy to Orapa Botswana is my comfirmed FM Band2 record.

Thanks I remembered it as 7000km :)
The FM catches were regulars around each equinox.
OIRT from Bulgaria was also received.

But what is the limit in distance for tropo receptions?

I've seen that one (http://www.fmlist.org/fm_logmap.php?dat ... 5&band=ALL) and I wonder if Gerard Noorduff has make some mistakes in logging or if in very special conditions it's really possible to receive up to 3000 Kms.

3000km tropo from Madeira is quite common , someone even logged Mount Leinster and north hessary tor from there
i don't know about a theoretical upper limit

had some more exotics today

5380km Big FM, Rajkot India 92.7 heard in Finland
Sorry, but I personally doubt that. Especially because tx. Rajkot was "identified" but list shows more than 30 tx. with the same px.
How the hell would anyone be able to identify this? Why couldn`t it have been tx. Hyderabad which is listed with 10.000 watts.

Is there any proof of reception for this?
I rather suppose it was Big FM from Daun/Eifel.

I do not think it is possible at all to receive FM from India in Finland after all I know about physics and earth surface.
But of course I am always able changing my mind after listening to a recording. ;)
