Tropo Alert

Post by satnipper »

Surprised nobody has mentioned the forecast tropo for Friday and weekend. It's looking very strong.

Because people have given up on tropo forecasts!

However, I can report Holland and Belgium at RDS levels in the car on the sea front. But it's strange that I have nothing here at home less than 1 mile from there.

There is an enhancement inland to the Midlands so maybe they are doing better over there.

Not here. Q 102.2 very strong on portable and I've just worked EI2GLB in the Republic on 2m ft8. It's forecast to burn off with the sun around now and be back with a vengeance tomorrow morning.

There has been tropo here over the Easter weekend so far. Not as good as earlier in the week though when I received strong Belgium then Germany, just usuals from northern France although it is better than nothing.

I had tropo from N France, Belgium and Luxembourg late Thursday evening/very early Friday morning. A quick check at 1.30 am BST (0030 UTC) on 2.4.21 revealed Radio 100,7 (LUX) with full RDS.

Other than that there's been some inter-UK tropo. BBC Essex on 103.5 was strong earlier this morning.
Good DX.

Intense sea tropo to west of IO83 bringing in fully quieting Energy FM 91.2 from GD and many stations from the Republic. Unfortunately not extending to East.

Langenberg (D) at 457 km just making it to RDS levels. My usual low power European coastal station coming in nicely on the vertical 3 ele with RDS and one or two stations from the Netherlands. Better than nothing, but only worth doing unattended scanning to record the event.

I'm currently locked into vertical towards the south-east for my meteor scatter recording (No noise at the moment! :) ) and there is a small enhancement to coastal parts of Belgium and the Netherlands. Some PI codes are visible from the regulars but no Dutch locals are getting through.
