Thousands of customers are left without TV as Freeview goes down across huge swathes of England and Wales because of ‘high pressure weather’ (Daily Mail)
A Freeview spokesman told MailOnline: 'Current high pressure weather conditions across the UK can cause picture break up or loss of channels for some viewers.

'At the moment, it looks as though these conditions may continue throughout the week. If you are affected please do not retune your TV, as reception will improve with the weather.
This is probably the first time I've seen problems due to tropo interference on DTV. The Triax BB has very good rejection of signals from the continent. But unfortuately it's pointing at the Midlands and Wales - and BBC R2 Wenvoe was full RDS off the back of the FM antenna a couple of days ago - so no doubt DTV was coming through as well from that direction.

What Freeview don't tell you is that the wholesale re-shuffling of the TV channnels to compress the UHF TV spectrum down to Ch 21-48 has left a large number of people who have TV signals that are out of band for the TV aerials that may have been fitted over 30 years ago. It may not be noticed under normal conditions, but low gain and a distorted pick up pattern for out of band signals will leave many vulnerable to anomalous propagation conditions.

And btw Freeview - reception will improve as the weather gets worse!

Lucas posted an article from the French Press about TV Viewers in Northern France only receiving UK Channels

looking at the forecast , overnight 31st dec/1st looks interesting for UK-Ireland paths then it goes nuts again on Jan 2nd

I have had some tropo over here too. Nothing like the conditions around the English channel in the previous days but notable.

Superb conditions to the north coast of Spain here now, with some personal firsts logged. Most interesting is a station on 87.5 playing music. I have the ID recorded.
Good DX.

Radio Super Amara from San Sebastián logged a little earlier on 108.0 MHz. It peaked SE and NW oddly. The most interesting thing about this is apparently it's a supermarket radio station! Thanks to Lucas/TransistorFR for his suggestion and help in IDing this.

I wonder what power it puts out?
Good DX.
