Possible tropo over the weekend

Post by zach_m » 14 Nov 2018 09:37

Hi there,

Just done an SDR scan on vertical dipole and I noticed lots of brief scatters. I heard Llangollen some French signals on BOB. Holme Moss is weak but solid. I also checked Hepburn's prediction maps and there is a strong possibility of tropo over the weekend. All looking good at the moment. A high pressure is still over the UK but over the weekend there should be a sharp temperature drop. Also fogs are predicted for coming days. It's worth checking the radio ;)

It's building up nicely here with a good selections of signals already, the wideband dipole I use (48 - 108) from HS publications really is excellent (D15)

It's brewing. Around 6-7 pm Luxy was doing well with full RDS on 100.7 for a while, and Lille was very strong. Unfortunately there was digital QRM affecting quite a few channels. Later on when I checked the QRM had gone but conditions to the Continent had nosedived. Inter-UK paths are still enhanced though.

Let's hope the weekend tropo is as good as the Hepburn maps are indicating. Poland would be nice...
Good DX.

It looks like Scotland could be heard here if the forecast is accurate. I've never had Scotland on FM before.

A lot of Germans here too, but only from the nearer parts of Germany which I already receive under scatter. Nothing exotic so far.

Good DX!
