Ooooh exciting stuff Paul! And I was only speaking to John earlier moaning about how rubbish the Es have been on Sunday, lol.

I eagerly await further developments.
Good DX.

I don't think there is anything else on the recordings, but I'll need to go over them in detail. I reckon it was St. Johns, Newfoundland. Nothing noted on the other freqs from Montreal / Gaspe at the bottom of the band. An hour earlier and this could have gone nuts. The reception was about 1/2 hour after local sunset.

congrats Paul
you might get a repeat, conditions have been very repetitive this year

are there any canadian dxers who may have rx'ed RTE on 87.8 & 88.5 at the time or are they as uninterested as the US dxers?

Congrats Paul! Wish I'd have checked this site last night before crashing out, didn't bother listening before going to bed. Mind you whether the signal would have reached as far as the midlands who knows?

Thanks Chris and TIm.

Tim, I posted news of this on the WTFDA facebook page but no one on the other side had anything as far as I know. Maybe it's still viewed as such an unlikely oddity (which it is, 15 minute opening after nine years of silence from NA) that the idea of pointing the antenna the "wrong" direction is still seen as being in the realm of fantasy.

There could be a repeat. I noticed last month three late evenings in a row with big 6m openings into NA.

Chris I actually think last night's opening favoured Britain rather than Ireland - as far as I could see from the map. Anyway it wasnt a 2009 or 2003, with just one station present - but more than welcome.

I'll tell you what it's a bloody shock when something bubbles up over RTE (Dublin was weak here last night, unusually)

I hit record on the Elad and walked outside and looked at the sky, and uh, did some breathing exercises!!!

Well understandably I will be watching to the west over the next few evenings just in case!

Very good! Excellent reception, Paul!
How many kilometers you're distant from Canada (it's a double or a triple hop?)?

I've just got home and watched the clip. Congratulations from me too. There are strong peaks on that recording.

I bet you'll be watching the band like a hawk tonight! :D

Just watched your clip Paul...amazing stuff also considering the Elad is a bit deaf on Band II

Is your location better for TA or could I/ anyone have got this?
