Just another alert so the title is visible to all. It's a BIG one!

Even darn sarf I've heard rock music on 89.2 which was in for several minutes about an hour ago, and more recently something on 89.3 peaking NE/NNE playing back-to-back soft pops, not Radio 2.
Good DX.

@Nick Do you have a recording of that 89,3? I can check for you if this was any station from Poland or the region.

Hi Maciek and thanks. Yes I do have a couple of recordings but there's no speech on them. I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to upload it. It depends if any more comes in tonight.

If this really was Au propagation then it's the first time I've heard it since March 1989.
Good DX.

Even music will do.

Now two things - if the audio is distorted and always noisy - it might have been plain Aurora.
If the audio is clear, audible and not distorted - Au-Sporadic E may be the cause.

It is a bit distorted, like it's overmodulating, but it's clear enough to easily hear what music is being played when it peaks.

Not sure if it's AuEs as the fading happens over minutes rather than seconds.
Good DX.

that must be the shortest ever interval between the afternoon & evening phase of Auroral dx ever!
The "interval" is called the Harang Discontinuity and usually occurs around 2000Z.
The afternoon phase continues till early evening before a fade centred on 2000Z, and then comes back around 2130z onwards.
Provided, of course, that the magnetic field remains disturbed.

I suspect what you heard was purely the ebb and flow of conditions.
The Kiruna K-index graph bears this out.

Here, I had a look on Band 2 and didnt hear anything. I spent time looking on 2m before I had to attend to little one, with the wife being out, but heard a number of Scxottish stations, and just before the event faded out, I heard LY2WR in Lithuania at good strength.
I recorded a stream which I will look more closely at when I get time.
