Help with fitting antennas.

Post by Jeff Kitching » 09 May 2017 15:49

Hello, I'm wanting to fit a 5 element DAB & 5 element FM aerials in my loft this weekend. I'm a bit tight for space in the loft and wanting to to use a rotator. To fit one above the other is going to restrict the movement 360 deg, so my question is, can I fit them together pointing in the same direction, but will there be any loss of signal from each of the DAB and FM. Thanks.

I assume you fitting the DAB elements to the FM 5 boom?
I did this using two FM 5's put then on one beam and later I split them up again to see if there was any difference to reception and found none.

I am planning on putting them back on one boom to give more room on mast so I would say try it there's nothing to loose only a bit of time.
Anyway good luck hope it works ok.

DAB works pretty well in my loft there is little interference unlike FM which is really bad and needs an aerial in the garden to pick up any signal.

Thanks for that. I'm going to fit the 5ele FM horizontal and 5ele DAB vertically on the same boom. Bit tight for height in loft. Had Netherlands DAB recently with the DAB aerial. Thanks
