Estonia 1035 kHz to close down?

Post by PFM907 » 19 Oct 2019 20:24

According to "Semeinoe Radio Eli", Tartu / Estonia, their activities upon medium wave are in severe danger due to lack of funds in the next years.
As TWR's russian division will close down its St.Peterburg studios in January 2020, which results in a complete stop of their broadcasts on 1035 kHz (that is carried out by Radio ELI nowadays), the future of the AM transmitter is in the shadows. These days, one third of the revenues is paid by TWR. That ammount of 7.000 Euro each month will be missing.

-10.000 Euro p.a. are required for the media license fee
-50.000 Euro p.a. are the coasts for the AM broadcast itself
-main income are voluntary donations
-85.000 Euro are expected missing for 2020 after TWR is about to stop renting medium wave 1035 AM

1035 kHz from Estonia is, among 1386 kHz Lithuania and 1602 kHz Latvija, one of the last remaining AM outputs in the Baltics. it would be a shame if they had to stop running it.
