Wavre transmitter shutdown

Post by Lucas | TransistorFR » 29 Dec 2018 23:20

Hey everybody,

Does anyone know the exact shutdown time of the Wavre transmitter in Belgium this Monday please? (RTBF La Première 621kHz + RTBF Vivacité 1125kHz)
Logically, the shutdown of "La Première" should occur at 19:05z but let me know if you have any other information please!

(I'm not sure that the topic is located in the right category. Sorry!)

621 has empty carrier over night so be aware their "silent" mode will be there until tomorrow morning for sure. Hope they will be gone for good afterwards to keep this frequency clear. By the way, 621 carries Vivacité sometimes as well.

Don't get me wrong, I like RTBF's programmes a lot as well as I enjoy receivin them on FM here in Germany. Furthermore, I have both AM outlets verified (as well as 1233 and 1305 kHz). Maybe I will send them a report for today.

But there is 100 % FM and DAB coverage plus TV Vlaanderen Digitaal so no need in still blocking useful DX frequencies and spending tax payer's money on AM in such a small country.

What I really regret is the loss of PURE FM on 1233 and 1305 a couple of years ago. Those were audible in a good way using a frame antenna indoors and PURE FM still has only 60 % FM coverage across the country. I am missing this very much, also because a few years later, their 101.1 frequency fromWavre suffered severe power reduction after a fire on the tower.

The QSL letter received from RTBF was the biggest, largest package to be ever received by a radio station :)

Goodbye 621 + 1125 AM (RTBF)

621 kHz: informational message on shutdown dropped upon the last ad, then news at 19, followed by usual message that transmission is ending now and will be continued on medium wave at 6 in the morning, National Anthem of Wallonian Federal Republic ;) played, empty carrier even after midnight (CET and UTC!) at night easily swamped out by Spain but still there

1125 kHz: normal programme with informational message on shutdown irregular in front of the news, signal being swamped out by Spain after 20 UTC.

as no daytime reception is possible here in Eastern Germany, I cannot confirm for sure it is gone.
