Unfortunately, this thing is also coming in here loud and clear while I am beamed east. Grrr! More of the same drivel. I'm not a Caroline fan. Never have been. It's the ultimate drear!

Unfortunately (again), a few stations are opening up on MW. Most European transmitters seem to be leaving the air though, thankfully.

Unfortunately (one more time), I have probably upset a few Caroline fans. Never mind!

If you are in East Anglia how can you have not heard the tens of new Dutch stations on AM?

The Dutch stations aren't really a problem here. 1566 Vahon Hindustani Radio is probably one of strongest, but it isn't much of a problem. Same with 1008 - now that is stronger of course, but I guess my distance from Holland is so close that the skip distance is less than optimal. All Dutch signals are easy to remove on the flag when I beam west.

Regarding my comments on Caroline, I am probably just becoming an old git. I hate repetition in music. It's just more of the same old songs. That irritating Fortunes song, the ding ding, Aaaagh! I've heard it all so many times. And don't get me started on today's pop music. Yo! muthafarmers! Where's the off button? Aaaaaah! Peace and quiet! :) Mind you, I'm still an old raver at heart. Top one nice one get sorted! ;)

My Dutch comment was for eastangliadx who doesn't seem aware of what's happening over the water.

Caroline represents freedom in radio broadcasting. Without her we'd still be listening to Aunty with the Light program...

Yes, absolutely agreed Stuart. I dread to think what the BBC would be like now had it not been for the pirates.

... and I used to enjoy listening to Mi Amigo and Nordzee back in the day. I found the Dutch perspective of popular music more interesting and uplifting. But DX matters more to me these days. Imagine the whole of European MW gone, with the rest of the world still broadcasting. DX heaven!

For your information, I just checked Caroline and found it's a decent daytime signal here, even on a portable! What concerns me is the splatter it's putting out either side to 639 and 657. Not impressed.

Audible clearly in the daytime on a slightly deaf car radio.

Once again, the signal drops at night. Was 3.8 (out of 5.0) in the day, now 1.0 approaching midnight.

There's a lot of discussion about this by various Facebook users. Reports say they are using 1 kW. I think the site is somewhere on Orfordness, but there is confusion about the precise location.

S7 this morning off back of flag. The historic wrongs of 50 years ago are being righted.

Great to have a decent station back on MF - I still miss Arrow 675.

I must admit that I found myself listening to Caroline yesterday evening. They played a decent selection of oldies which are seldom if ever heard on 'regular' radio stations. Now that is to be applauded. 8-)

Crashing is the word! What a pain in the arse. Good job I can take it out with the flag when I want to.
