A couple of questions about 1510

Post by simbeav » 10 Oct 2017 09:35

I heard sport on 1510 this morning. Offset was .987 I see a few have had KGA in the past few days. Is that still the offset for KGA ?

No ID, so I can't log, but second question - Does that count as West Coast ?

thanks Simon

Definitely west coast if it's KGA. I think the term might be used more generally then it technically should be, including several western states and Canadian provinces. Personally, I wouldn't class Alberta as west coast, but it fits in with those kind of conditions.

That 1510 carrier has been in too for several days recently. I have it on 1509.988, using Hull 1484 as the reference. Using Absolute 1242 as a reference it settles on .989, so a minor discrepancy in my Perseus calibration there.

The carrier was stronger this morning so I am hoping for audio, but I haven't checked through any files yet.

This is how 1510 looked this morning.

I could just make out a "Fox Sports Trending" ID at 0600, but couldn't hear anything conclusive before this. I suspect that's KCKK, but really don't know now.

KCKK's website suggests they carry oldies, but is that just their FM outlet? Topaz also lists them with oldies/rock. What happened to Mile High Sports?

Maybe Fox Sports is now KGA? Their website says News/Talk/Sports, but their Wikipedia page says they carry Fox Sports.

Note WLAC is also Fox Newsradio. Hmm.

Anybody?

Hi John.

Thanks for this. I see KCKK are officially "97.3 The Rock". Weird to hear KCKK with oldies and rock. I presume that was them I heard playing American Pie around 0520. Haven't found an ID yet.

Nothing at all from CJVB. 1470 was a mush of stations most of the time with WLAM surfacing occasionally.

KGA nailed here with Pacific time checks. No actual KGA IDs though but the offset and everything else fits.

Great reception Mark.

The best I got was a "Fox Sports Radio" check at 05:46.

I also got the music station, but no ID. American Pie at the same time as John, but it's just too clichéd. A bit like hearing "You 'aint seen nothing yet" on a 49m band pirate !

And as soon as I posted that, I found a weak "1510 KGA Spokane" at 06:00'47 for anybody still loking for it.

Thanks Simon. Although the signal had faded very low at that time, I could just make it out.
