"DAYSCAN (LIVE)" on Jaguar v3

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 12 Sep 2017 10:16

No, it's not a TV programme for DXers. It's the latest facility in Jaguar v3. For me, this is the ultimate feature of the latest version.

Set "VFO 530-1710" in the JAGUAR.INI file, then click the "S" in the row of facilities in the bottom left of the Jaguar window. Select DAYSCAN (LIVE). I've also got HOMESCAN selected but I'm not sure what that is yet. On playback, you'll need to select "D" in the compass on the lower right. This puts you in DAYSCAN mode. Then click ZOOMER from the top menu to zoom in to the carriers. Jaguar will now record a waterfall of every TA frequency whenever you record, so you have immediate access to carriers when you tune. Click on a bright point of a visible carrier which may be at audio level and it takes you straight to that point in time. So simple and so time saving!

They're already working on Jaguar v3.1 and I can't wait to see what improvements they will make then, but Jaguar just keeps getting better and better.

NB: The carriers which continue after sunrise are part of my local noise problems.

Yes. Very useful. Or will be when we get some DX.

I'm greedy, though. Would love to have full scan for all frequencies ! Probably be a resource hog, though. Would be nice to be able to set up a few favourite frequencies to do a full scan on, say a set time after sunrise.

You can do this. Define your favourite frequencies in JAGUAR.INI with SET VFO. So:

[MESTOR]
SET NAME MESTOR1
SET SAMPLING 1600 CENTER 1098
SET DISK D:\ OVERFLOW E:
SET QTH SKEGNESS, 53.1xxx, 0.3xxx
SET VFO 530-1710
// SET ANTENNA 1
SET ALTSDR D:\PERSEUS\PERSEUS.EXE

You can also define favourite frequencies:

SET VFO 680,700,760,1000,1040,1100,1120,1150,1160,1230,1340,1280,1290,1300,1340,1370,1380,1410,1420,1480,1490,1510,1520,1590,1600

(No comma after 1600.)

I don't think this works for 9 kHz frequencies. i.e. SET VFO 531-1602 I think you an only do this manually after you have recorded, and then with some other code. This may be implemented in v3.1. If you need any further help I can knock up a quick video.

Sorry John. I've misled you. I meant "Extended Scan" on each frequency.

I quite like the extended scan at speed 10 to scroll through, but it takes quite some time to generate on each frequency if you want a long period.

That's right. But DAYSCAN (LIVE) runs in the background as you record. So you have waterfalls for each/chosen frequencies ready when you go to check your recordings. Otherwise you can run EXTENDED choosing the VFO option at any time.
