Glad it's not just me! I tried to make out the speech, but it's quite painful to listen to!

Here's a recording of the awful racket! When I first started recording, the noise suddenly stopped, but was back within about 30 seconds.

It is a car radio so it is quite obvious the sound is an offset tone which results from the difference 1008 kHz=9kHz grid vs. 1010 kHz=10kHz grid and the fact that I am pretty sure this radio is unable to devide between both. Or does it have a function tuning on 1 kHz left and right or even a grid switch ?

You can clearly hear the talk programme from Toronto between the beeping noise.

I hear the same during nights. It helps, to tune a bit up or down. Go to 1007 kHz if you want to listen to stations originally on 1008, and to 1011 or 1012 for the US and canadians. This did in fact avoid that terrible noise over here. It is, however, impossible to turn this sound off in car radios that are unable to tune at 1 kHz or that do not have a switch for 9 / 10 kHz grid.

Thanks for the info. It can only tune in 9kHz steps. That reminds me, though, that my dad's old Skoda could tune in 1kHz steps if you held the tune button down to put it into that particular mode.

I wouldn't expect to hear Toronto in the daytime though...

It's so scary... :D

You could change the title of the video to get more views (for example "Incredible alien messages heard in Norwich: they are among us!" or "Evidences of a misterious enemy power broadcasting in Uk").

Interesting. Only Spain (Cadena SER) here on 1008 at night. Must be down to the null on my flag.

Worryingly, they had a request for reception reports in English and Dutch, so they may even be targeting the East Coast

Ouch! I am still convinced that my closer proximity to the Netherlands is the reason why I don't get a lot of signal from there. That and the nulling power of the flag. Flevoland was never that strong. But it was strong enough to be a nuisance.

They are growing fast! I see that United FM moved to 1008 from 1224. I never had it on 1224 either - a nice, empty channel here.

I really must beam out to the Netherlands one day and see what I can get. Soon.

Asia is poor here for weeks now, it is almost 2 months. Last good log was at the end of November, I cannot even remember.
Apart from the one very good Japanese noon on Dec. 22nd and 918 kHz with the Chinese on 25th / 26th Dec.

Whenever I try, there is not a single trace on 972 / 1098 / 1134 / 1143 / 1557 / 1566 /...
Dont know why is that. No Far East signal received in GER; not even during the nights when US was good.

(thought it might be a possibility to receive Far East from Western direction instead of pointing east...)

Paul Crankshaw logged Vladivostok via long path one morning on 1476 many years ago when Transatlantic stuff was coming in
sadly the tx doesn't exist any more
