Big Signals Around Dawn

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 10 Feb 2019 09:44

Dawn is our friend once again!

A nice increase in transatlantic signals around Dawn.

As you can see, the screen grab shows 1490 around 06:00 - 07:30. I am listening to a Gospel choir on there at the moment. There is also Spanish language in there, plus the usual WBAE. Of course, Sod's Law dictates that I will only be able to identify WBAE, but maybe YOU will have better luck on the band this morning.

Come on folks! Let's have a personal firsts this morning! :)

Loads of big looking signals, but all mush or usuals here I'm afraid.

Yes, So far I have only dug out a few regulars. This has been disappointing. There is such a lot happening. Somebody, somewhere should have had something of interest. I hope so.

Some ID slogans in there, mentioning Relojas(?) and Alicante. Not sure I hear Cordillera anywhere, unless that's what is being stuttered. "Co-co-co-co-Cordillera." Nice signal, whoever it was.

OK John, you threw down the challenge. Well it's a new one for me :-

Please tell me you still have your recording.

This is so vague it's just impossible to hear properly, but I do hear "news radio".

That's it. I was lucky to get it clearer, but if you listen carefully you can hear the "Savannah's" before the newsradio on yours.

Thank you SImon. The same voice. The same time. Mine is a real struggle, but I hear it. This one is a gem. Thank you for the tip. A personal first for me! :)

Jaguar crashed and didn't recover for me last night, so I had nothing after 02:34, but there was a daytimer reducing power or going off at just before 23:45 on 1430.
They were playing The Beatles - Yesterday until 23:43 when there is a male announcer before disappearing, but I can't make anything out.
1429.9988 was the offset.

I will check for that this evening. Even though I have meant to start recording well before midnight each day, I have failed to do so for weeks now. I just cannot remember. This is getting to be a big problem, so I need to set up some timers in MESTOR as my last remaining brain cell is not up to the job anymore.

Fairly sure you will have had KZQZ. The Beatles will be on their playlist. Not sure if you use Facebook, but you can contact them directly there.

Just set Jaguar recording. I cannot remember to do this early. It's just not possible. Even though I am active on the computer. Memory!

I've just spotted that mine hasn't been recording this evening yet.

As I said, last night Jaguar crashed (actually it hung with no recording after 02:34, but the program appeared to be running.

I restarted it and that seemed ok, but switched to live this evening and it couldn't find the Perseus.
Much unplugging of USB cable and sweating later, I thought to check task manager and yes the hung instance of Jaguar was still running and had held on to the live Perseus. B...... ! At least I spotted and didn't lose another night (fingers crossed).

Are you running one of the test versions? I have gone back to a previous v4 after a few issues with E-Type. These will be rectified soon enough, but I know the latest test version has brought up a few issues for other users. I will probably update again by the end of the week as Ilpo is putting a colossal amount of work into this.

It REALLY frustrates me when I incessantly forget these little things like making sure I have set Jaguar to record. It's been like this for WEEKS!

My next tasks, if my last remaining brain cell holds out, are to work out if I can set timers in Windows and make have the whole computer sleep when not in use. I may be spending some time away as I am helping a friend with hospital visits, etc. Then I need to master MESTOR again. Maybe somebody knows the settings as I have long forgotten. For example, I could just have MESTOR recording between 0355 and 0805. Then make the computer sleep at all other times if I am away.

There will probably be a YouTube video for these.
