That's great. They are very forgiving aerials. Even if they are too short, tall, long, etc. that variable resistor usually finds the null.

It's all about nulling the noise which has the effect of moving it up and down the band, so I can choose my clear frequencies. Pity I can't have a totally clear band, but not many of us have that luxury these days.

What have you been receiving over there lately?

BEST far east condx. EVER !!! NOW !

heard DPRK 819 with ID + time signal at 1730 CET=1630 UTC,
Hanminjok 972 with full ID like a local tx at 1800 CET=1700 UTC,

and DPRK again coming in like a local at 1830 CET = 1730 UTC
with FULL national anthem and ID. signal was amazing!

SINPO of 54534 :ugeek:

this day is just EXCELLENT !!!

I will surely never experience anything like those signals again. 8-)

if anyone of you needs to record or QSL North Korea,

last chance to try out around 2130 CET (2030 UTC)
with sign-up. before, there is 20 minutes of test tone.

Great PFM!

Good conditions to North America too. Some good signals at 2200.

There's a chance of a blow-out any time, so if this long run of quiet conditions blows out around sunrise then we could be in for a few treats.

Nailed daytimer 1510 WRRD.

Lively OM in English, shouting out Newstalk 15-10 WRRD.

Best on USB.

well done John. I spotted the carrier looked strong last night, but no chance here - too much splatter and noise.
1560 just the "wonderful" WFME !

Thanks Simon.

My 1560 was just WFME, but with something very weak behind it pre-sunrise. Noise from 0629 to 0700(+15 seconds!!) and TA fade-out around 0745.

When DXing graveyard frequencies, never expect an ID at the top of the hour. Signals know you are looking for them. ;) You have to be sneaky and catch them out. It takes more time but, with a bit of patience, you will catch them when they aren't aware. Sneak up on them quietly though, as they will run and hide as soon as they know you are there.

Anybody know what is being said before "a division of Bell Media" on this clip from 0700 on 1150. I presume is is CKOC (which is no longer oldies ?), but I can't work out what he is saying.

Hi Simon,

Assuming it's a standard recorded ID that gets repeated hourly, this Ontario SDR should come up with the goods for you:

http://ve3hls.proxy.kiwisdr.com:8073/?f=1150.00amz10

They have a sports format according to a quick listen just now. "TSN 1150 Hamilton" is their live running ID and they are still a division of BM, mentioned in banter.

Update - yes, at 1400UTC the same ID sting as your capture:

Clear CKOC, etc. ID there Simon. Had that one myself at 0600. Same Id.

There was a "Fox Sports Trending ... Now!" ID after this. A different station?

Hesrd them tonight, decent peak at 1757 UTC for North Korea on 819. heard them on the 12th, but nothing on the 13rd, just Egypt despite listening at 1730 UTC and 2030
Receivers:
General: Grundig satellit 650, Lowe HF-225, Tecsun PL660
FM; Degen De1103
DAB: Akai ADB10(2x), Nikkei ADB10, Technisat.
All with telescope antenna. I use a home-built(not by myself, :D ) Loopantenna on the satellit for mediumwave

Only a very weak Egypt on 819 here. However, at 1800:

738 China. V weak.
945 China. V weak.
972 HLCA Weak.
981 China. Weak.
1071 Rajkot, booming!
1134 HLKC Best I've ever heard it with clear ID!
1143 Taiwan Fisheries. Fair.
1359 Three Chinese transmitters, apparent by their echo.
1377 China good.
1413 JOIF time signal heard and possibly I think I hear a YL with a KBC ID in the pile-up.
1566 HLAZ good.

That's a lot more than I expected to hear. Looks like far eastern Asiatic reception is returning.

It's weird to think that this is February and it's producing the best signals of the season so far. February never seems to be a great month for anything.

too bad I missed this...Japan, Thailand and Vietnam are also still missing here.

congrats on those logs from Chaina and especially Japan, never heard on MW.

Yes John. definitely CKOC and definitely a Fox news trending after.

An interesting one on 920. Very weak just before 06:00 sounds like OM and YL giving scheduling information, "starting Monday 5th February" and "news, local.... questions of faith heard weekday mornings at 11" on 919.9914 offset, but typically faded by TOH. WDMC ?

China is belting in like a local on 1377 kHz on the Kongsfjord SDR, as per web stream. Normally I have heard an Arabic station on this channel here.
Good DX.
