hi, and thanks for having me. im mark, located in blackpool. have been a licenced ham for 30yrs, (g1hso). active on most bands, but by far band 2 is my main interest, has been for many years, although not been active on the band 2 front for a while. now is the time to do it properly and get serious, and reading your posts and comments is giving me the push I need. equipment in use is 2 sony st-sb920,s, as yet unmodified, one sony st-se700, unmoded, one very sensitive kenwood car stereo, various tuners from the 70,s grundig yachtboy/hackers etc, as I collect them, and various ham radio gear. the antennas in use, for band 2 are a 6 ele beam, horizontal on rotator, and the fm vertical dipole, both antennas are into separate distribution amps which feed the receivers.

Welcome to the forum Mark another DXer from the Northwest England I live in Billinge, nr Wigan.
You should be a good spot for Irish FM reception as we used to go to Blackpool and park up on the South shore prom while I tuned around.
Anyway we will look forward to seeing your logs.

Andy

thanks Andrew, when up and running properly will post logs, shack being re arranged at moment. been following your logs and noticed you are not that many miles from me. cant wait to try some serious dx from here. at the moment beam is lowered as needs some work doing, so just using the vertical at moment, doing ok, Ireland, wales, and as far down as stoke received on it, so looking good for when beam is back up. cheers, mark...

Hi Mark.

Winchester is 12 miles down the A34 from here, and Newbury is another 12 miles up the A34 if that helps. Andover is the nearest town, at about 7 miles away to the WSW.

Did you used to do FM DXing in Winchester? There's certainly some very good spots for DX there, especially in the vicinity of the hospital.
Good DX.

haha, I used live in the grounds of the hospital, I had hospital accomadation, came with the job, I know the area very well having lived there for many years. used to work all round that area, prob from newbury as far down as poole, and everywhere in between, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Southampton, very nice part of the country. and I miss it, but still do visit couple times a year. I never did any dx or anything radio related while I was there, to busy workwise never had the time, its only these last couple yrs I got back into radio, have built the shack up from scratch over couple yrs, and getting back into the things radio wise I love, which I band 2 dx. ok on the dx from around the hospital, yes it does seem high up there, I remember the long walk up that steep hill, every day, lol...cheers, mark...
