Want to make my own TV station for an experiment

Post by eastangliauk » 27 Apr 2018 16:51

Hi
I have just got my technomate tm-rf modulator for uhf
Though plugged into an aerial the picture is very fussy is there anyway to boast the output so the picture is better please

As I want the signal to go round the house. with out having to put cables everywhere.
Would this do the job

Of course I want to make sure its not to powerful to go more than a few houses away.
thanks
And I make sure freeview signals stay fine to. by using another channel.

great I will keep the wire short so it does not broadcast very far maybe.
I ordered it.
though now the long wait for it to come.
Just thinking I could even connect it to an RF hack device though these are very pricey so might save up for one.

I could not get the amp to do anything.

My RF modulator works but signal is very weak still.
Wish there is more help might have to just stick to using really low power for now. :(

I doubt that the output from the RF modulator would be anywhere near enough to drive the RF power amplifier. It looks like the power amplifier requires 2 dBm = 1.6mW of drive.

The RF modulator is designed to connect directly to the Tv aerial input to give you your analogue signal. The signal needed for the Tv tuner would be very low, possibly in the microwatt or even lower range not in the milliwatt range that is needed to drive the RF power amplifier. So that is why the RF Power Amplifier isn't working, it can't boost the signal because there is simply not enough RF output from the RF modulator to drive the amplifiers input.

Well I suspect that that aerial is next to useless, they love quoting aerial gain in dBi to make it look better. The reference is the dipole so the gain should be quoted in dBd, therefore you subtract 2.1dB from the quoted 5 dBi gain and you get 2.9 dBd gain... whenever you see an aerial quoted in dBi always subtract 2.1 dB and this will give you the true gain over a halfwave dipole.

Why don't you do something like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCIJUga8b9Y
