Electronic music programs

Post by jotagarzon »

In a different topic related with UNID stations we have touched the subject of good electronic music on the nowadays FM stations.
PFM907 missed Zona 3 program, aired by RNE Radio 3 a decade ago. The presenter , Sonia Briz was a friend of mine and we had long conversations while I was travelling to play music in private parties in Germany at the time being! What a beautiful girl and serious music lover she was!
Fortunately we have not lost all the finest electronic music in Radio 3, there are still a couple of very good programs, but the one outstanding now is "Atmosfera", played from 2 to 4 am Sat to Sun. It's a music magazine format with long tronic sessions. The conductor, a girl called Elena makes one of the best tronic selection of experimental vibes and high creative music in this world of rythms. Nothing to see with commercial beach discos or summer clubs in Majorca!!

You can hear Atmosfera and download programs/sessions here: https://www.rtve.es/m/alacarta/audios/atmosfera/

Maybe we could exchange here serious programs on this music style. Actually we are the generation that invented the electronic rythms with which the entire planet dances now!

ok so what is really good in European radio regarding club music?
here are the shows which in my personal opinion are the reference!
i know there are more, mostly irregular aired, but this is a good start to plan your week :)

RE:WIND on Radio bremen NEXT gives best dub + Drum&Base tunes every THU from 20 hours local
https://www.radiobremen.de/bremennext/p ... ah102.html

only Kronehit upper Austria is "live from the Clubs" every THU from 22 hours local on 92.6 + 104.9 FM
https://www.kronehit.at/kronehit-at-clubs#/

the "Barometer" always gave hot temparature on Danish Radio P3 every FRI evening with chillout, alternative electronic sounds, ambient tunes and easy beats but sadly has stopped, still online to be listened (as well as "det store mix" on SAT is stopped)
https://www.dr.dk/radio/p3/barometeret

every FRI evening it is time for The VOICE in the mix with commercial club sounds from Denmark and Scandinavia
https://radioplay.dk/podcast/the-voice-in-the-mix/

also FRI features Radio Bremen NEXT real phat tunes in" Bassdrive"
https://www.radiobremen.de/bremennext/p ... ve100.html

Radio Sydhavsoerne (DK) has legendary "Club Sydhavsoerne" 90s mix show with Rimini Peter (RIP!) or Jakob Larsen in the mix every FRI from 20 til 21
https://www.facebook.com/clubsydhavs/

RBB Radioeins brings "Club Room" with Anja Schneider (german DJ and former FRITZ host) every early SAT morn from 1 til 4 AM with harder tracks and fast pumping beats. she used to present at the Loveparade and has enormous knowlegde of the genre and all the different styles, this program is really outstanding
https://www.radioeins.de/programm/sendu ... _9391.html

SUNSHINE LIVE will kick you back in time each SAT from 9 till 13 hours with the legandary and fabulous SSL CLASSICS broadcast
https://www.sunshine-live.de/programm/classics

the SAT afternoon belongs to Studio Brussel and DJ Licious
https://radioplus.be/#/stubru/herbeluis ... 7b76bf47f/

an alternative might be NEXT PUSH on Radio Bremen with focus on House, deep, techhouse and Techno / Old school:
https://www.radiobremen.de/bremennext/p ... sh176.html

SR P3 offers "Dance and Electronic Music" every SAT evening from 20.30 local time:
https://sverigesradio.se/sida/avsnitt/1 ... ramid=5047

MDR Sputnik will send out some amazing mixes from local DJs and unknown producers every SAT night, this is actually one of my highlights.
https://www.sputnik.de/sendungen/musiks ... --100.html

I can also recommend the ABC Partynight Megamixes every FRI from 21 till 2 AM next SAT and SAT evening from 18 hours local until 2 AM on SUN, they feature some popular guest mixes one or another time
https://radioabc.dk/show/partynight-megamixes/

Every SAT from 21 to 23 we have Dance Department on dutch Radio 538 for trance and up tempo lovers
https://www.538.nl/dance-department

MQ3 on RDP is good every SAT evening, very housy
https://www.rtp.pt/programa/radio/p1080

Saarländischer Rundfunk & SWR (Unserding+Dasding) air a guest mix every SUN from 22-23 (the first hour is commercial):
https://www.unserding.de/unserding/musi ... g_100.html

"Progressioon" is served by Eesti Raadio Kaks every MON evening from 20 til 21 hours with Rain Tunger aka Solid Steel, worth listening:
https://r2.err.ee/progressioon

on TUE I would love to advertise "Back to the 90s" on SUNSHINE LIVE on the air between 20 and 22 hours local
https://www.sunshine-live.de/programm/back-to-the-90s

SLAM! Mix Marathon is to be aired from FRI 6 AM (!) until SAT 6 AM this weekend
https://www.slam.nl/programmering#gedraaid

irregular aired are mix sessions on BREMEN NEXT: every 1st SAT each month from 10 PM, sometimes FRI from 6 PM or THU from 10 PM:
https://www.radiobremen.de/bremennext/p ... d-102.html

Norwegian Radio p3 and Danish Radio p3 do not seem to have similar offers any longer...
unfortunately, most of the stations switched from "each style per evening mo rock / tue indie / wed metal / thu urban / fri dance" scheme to a general music magazin that lasts 3 to 5 hours and features all kinds of music from different genres
I do not like these "popcuture" shows, it is always like a supermarket full of everything where you cannot find what you are searching for.
the last one who did so was Radio Bremen by ceasing "Remmi-Demmi" on friday nights. this was excellent with many extended versions.

of course there are also several syndication shows by famous deejays
which can be heard throughout diverse FM networks all around europe.

Listening to Poole's Hot Radio 102.8 at the moment. Superb selection
Probably scanning the band atm. And definitely complaining about the conditions.

here some vintage ES DX with house and club music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mtNkVNe7Dk

unfortunately most of the spanish dance px. (Mi RadioFM, Futura FM, maxima FM, including Radio One) are closed now.
even the advertisings on those stations were beautifully made with powerful sound and full of energy!

I wonder why 10 years back or so, every spanish city had at least three dance formats and today there is none.
miss that sound so much :( los 40 "dance" is an embarrassment

Like Spain, most of Serbian dance stations are closed, unfortunately the awesome TopFM changed their format(they used to air radio shows and home-based dj's mixes every day) from House/Dance to Top40, TDI changed to commercial CHR(they used to air mixes every day, like ASOT), S4 had changed from Dance to Top40,and has been going as Soft AC for 2 months. A year ago 7 CHR/Top40 station were on-air in Belgrade (exactly the same music and programming were on Play,TopFM,R3,WTF,S2,S4,AS Beograd) without special shows and mixes. AS FM Vojvodina is the only remaining station broadcasting house music, and it worth a try, because their DJs are not stuck at shit pop music remixes and pointless minimal and electro tunes like Hungarian stations , playing almost only awesome house tunes : http://radioas.fm/snimci.php

I do not know much about commercial radio in Serbia but personally, I find the state operators extremely boring in style of presentation (the same in Bosnia and Crna Gora - while croatias Drugi program and the regional radios Split, Dubrovnik and Osijek* are actually very good with lots of dance music in the evening).
they have seen three fatal actions in the past: first failure was to close Radio B92 (with its extreme variety of music) for some crap station called Play, only airing english language songs you hear elsewhere. second failure was the market shrinking with Radio S buying all the local radios, as a result there is S1, S2, S3...why would anybody tune in a station called "S4" ?? it is the "fourth best choice" !??
and finally it was a failure to focus on AC/CHR format. even Studio B is not the same they used to be.
I loved listening to B92 and Studio B via satellite but today I do not find any interesting radio station from Serbia.
AS FM has good jingles but the music on daytime, oh my god... and the presenters talking blablabla all the time
Radio 3 is so boring with all the old music...
ok, I have recently heard RTI FM from Novi Sad for the first time, this seems to be an interesting one...
Play is the worst radio station alive with the same music every 2 hours. this sucks compared to B92radio

btw AS FM is now also everywhere in Serbia and they did cut the part "Vojvodina, Srbija i svet" from their news jingle towards "Srbija i svet" so they regard theirselves as a nationwide program.

my thought is that the albanians have much better variety of musical selection, even on daytime. albanian radios play many italian songs because of their long lasting listening of italian radio in the past, not so much english muzsic. Radio Travel sounds totally different at any time of the day (morning commercial, afternoon 90s, evening rock, night lots of 80s and italian music). Top Albania and Club FM have many dance tracks, NRG is quite powerful. Radio +2 was the best with many romanian and other balkans production but they also had to shut down.
Radio +2 had a mix called "Beat 2 beat" several times each day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8csEMpO_qCM
this was an internal production, not some syndication which you can heare elswhere

Greece closed down almost all of their dance stations: Deejay FM Thessaloniki, NRJ Athens, MTV88,2 Patras, etc....

(everything written based on my personal experience which might differ from reality, especially after drinking)

Do you know Studio DD? I am a so big fan of this show that I have been recording it since 2015.(I have almost every episode, if you are interested in,I can send you)

I suppose the main problem with S4 is not their name, but the indeciveness of the owners about the format. In 2017 it was dance/house, one year later just CHR/Top40, then changed to Hot AC,now it is Soft CHR. (why would anyone tune in a station that change its format every year??)

AS FM is the best choice in Serbia after 22 (except for Saturday when they do not air mix sessions), DJ Times provide cool house tunes,my favourites are the progressive house DJ Macro(especially when he plays instrumental prog house music), DJ Vanjanja(various, but mainly Club House) and Groover(mainly EDM). They only available nationwide via satellite TV packages,as they have FM license only to Vojvodina. The news jingle has been changed when they got a frequency in Belgrade(107,9 - ex. Antena) but it has been sold to Super FM,so they are unavailable in the Serbian capital via FM.(Pancevo 89,8 could be audible in some parts) Their sound design makes me feel like Radio538,I think their jingles are the best in Serbia.

I cannot find words to describe Play,"worst radio station" is too kind of you, I gave up listening it owing to their boring playlist(they have not changed in their 90's-00's directory since their start). Their chart, "Playlista" is interesting, but more than half of the songs are played there, never appears in their playlist.

Radio3 has not been playing old music since 2018,when they switched to CHR.(Like TopFM,both owned by Naxi Group - I am unable to understand the decision behind the change, they had 2 stations with the same format and coverage for 2 years!!!) Now it is going with the same style like Radio IN,so playing only SRB music.

Now the Serbian radio market is the worst in Europe with almost only MP3 players(I can find better stations even in Bosnia, like Big3 or Das Extra).

Anyway, do you know Vedran Car and his Feel Good Club? It is a must-listen mix, with very cool recent club hits and throwbacks. (It is really annoying that I have a local 1kW on 104,4, so I cannot receive it via FM,as none of other transmitters are audible here - except for Osijek 91,2 that is mixing with AS FM Kula-)

As seen in Radio Today..
A new dance music platform will be launched on BBC Sounds this coming October 9th. But there is a concern on this, as could not fit the BBC quality contents being just a mere replica of other commercial radio proposals now on air. The full history here:

Anyone recognized the "Radio Rave" europe shows every friday evening from 18 UTC on all Bauer stations?
last week it was Denmark, the week ago it was the UKs and this friday it will be live from Oslo and the next week from Cracow Poland.
you can listen via Kiss, Expres, RMF Maxxx or The Voice.

Danish Radio VIBORG with "Festudvalget" is also very good on a friday or saturday night.

I would recommend the Croatian Yammat FM's Magic Room and MSS (Fridays from 21 to 03 and 15 to 17) to deep house lovers, these are definitely the best deep house related shows made in Central Europe.
