Sometimes, Radio Ramadan might means slightly higher-powered DX.

Back in 1993, I received Radio Ramadan on 87.7 when driving through Nottingham. The signal was very poor and dipped out completely when leaving the city limits while driving back to Mansfield.

On arriving home, I checked my then 386 MS DOS 6.22 computer, which had been running RDSS (Whatever number or version it was), looking for meteor scatter on 87.7. I was amazed to see full RDS from Radio Ramadan on 87.7. No other Ramadans would have been received at that time. I later discovered that they had got into trouble and had been using a lot more power than they should.

No, it wasn't me who reported them, but I suspect I know who did.

You were running RDS software in 1993? Wow!
You are a dx pioneer!!

I don’t want to accuse the blackburn station of running too much power without proof but the difference this year is astonishing. On previous years I couldn’t even detect the thing and now it’s strong and only limited by splatter from wrexham 88.0

Its a hilly area, maybe they moved the tx to a better spot?
