Post by Julian Hardstone » 22 Jan 2019 09:51

Does anyone know what platforms will be used for the new Classical Music service when it starts in March?

RadioToday says Gala test tx have begun, so I did a retune, but nothing there, only HEAT which causes the rx to hang on a non-DAB+ rx, or 'unavailable' on a modern rx

Yes old style DAB only so all the oldies who can't be bothered to buy a shiny new DAB+ radio won't be upset they are missing out that's if they know or even care ! This is a backward step in the age of DAB+ imo...

Bit rate 112kbps btw...oh how original a classical music station, zzzzz

Already streaming on planetradio.co.uk, by the way...
Probably scanning the band atm. And definitely moaning about the conditions.

Seems to be up and running now, no re-scan needed

How will they differentiate themselves from classic fm and radio 3, more live or all live music?

Have you listened or did you guess that John?

Because..........

You totally nailed it!
The presenter chris something was awful like bad ILR

They seem to be having teething problems, there was a terrible hum on the DAB audio around 1252 LT

It was just a pessimistic guess. I never (or very rarely) actually LISTEN to local radio. In fact to radio of any kind. I just log the rare stuff and move on to the next station.
