major frequency changes in Sweden

Post by PFM907 » 07 Jul 2018 21:05

from Aug, 1st, the commercial local / city networks will be removed and replaced by 3 national / regional ones.
furthermore, FM coverage among most of the towns will be improved from actually 3-5 up to 5-8 stations then.
remember that most of the frequency used at the moment will be changing the station carried-out from that date.
in other words: everything we have learned and experienced about S frequencies / stations names will be gone.
the old plan was valid for the past 15 years, the new one is supposed to bring more variety to the smaller cities.

stations have now started announcing those changes:

remember to keep in mind, that it will take some time until listings on onair.nu, radioguiden, fmlist, ukwtv.de .. will be upated after the switch-over

Mix Megapol has now published first details:

Also, two closedowns have been announced:

However, NENT (MTG)'s fifth format, Lugna Favoriter, does not look like a continuation after August 1st.

In connection with this, licensee NTM has also stated that they will put down their format East FM as of August 1st.
What a shame! Will be missing East FM.

It is getting more and more serious, as time is passing by.
NENT (owner of Rix FM and others) has now also announced a place with all the upcoming information:

https://www.bytfrekvens.nu/om-bytfrekvens-nu/
On the 1st of August, the commercial radio channels in Sweden will get new licenses. In connection with the launch of the new frequency plan, most of the stations have to switch frequencies around the country. At Bytfrekvens.nu you will find all the information you need to find your favorite channel.

The radio channels RIX FM, MIX Megapol and NRJ have been granted national licenses, and another 7 channels share 35 local states in 21 regions all over Sweden. STAR FM has been granted permission in 18 of the 21 regions and will therefore be heard in almost the entire country. Other channels are mostly found in Stockholm.

In order not to interfere the on-going broadcasts, licensees must transmit on different frequencies. This means, for example, that RIX FM can not broadcast at the same frequency across the country, but has different frequencies at each location. Each channel also has a number of additional transmitters at additional frequencies (slavsenderen=fill-up frequencies) to be heard better in certain areas.
The first few days with all the little difficulties and problems will probably be the most interesting ones.

Bauer's format Rockklassiker will also be heard in Skåne in the future as well as in Gothenburg. Bauer Media has signed a collaboration agreement with Mad Men Media, which operates Retro FM in Skåne and won three regional radio stations in Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne, too.

In the future, Rockklassiker will be able to listen to "Mad Mens" radio licenses in Västra Götaland, as well as on the radio frequencies in Skåne that today broadcast Retro FM*. Retro FM will, in turn, move its broadcasts to Mad Mens channel in Skåne (=107.0+107.4 MHz Malmö and Lund). What will be broadcast in Stockholm is not clear yet, but through the cooperation agreement, Bauer Media will have six of ten radio stations in Stockholm.

* = 90,5 Eslöv / 91,7 Vellinge / 94,5 Landskrona / 95,9 Kävlinge / 106,3 Stockholm / 106.9 Ängelholm / 104,8 Göteborg

ROCKKLASSIKER

Last year, the government decided to reschedule radio broadcasting licenses for private actors on the FM band.
Then it was determined that all current frequencies where today's advertising-sponsored radio broadcasts ends on 31 July 2018.

Last autumn, all new broadcasting licenses were auctioned in a closed bidding process. Unfortunately, Rockklassiker did not win any broadcasting license in those places where we now stop sending via the FM band.

We have not, therefore, made an active choice to stop sending in these locations, on the contrary, we would rather send in these places via the FM band.

MIX MEGAPOL

Mix Megapol extends broadcasts throughout Sweden on August 1st

On August 1, Mix Megapol will be heard throughout Sweden.

In most places, Mix Megapol also retains its frequency.

MTG Radio/NENT's Lugna favoriter (=slow melodies) will be replaced by all-new LUGNA KLASSIKER 104,7, operated by Bauer Radio Sverige
(very similar to Lugna melodier that existed once). Svenskt pop stays, new frequency is 105,1.

http://www.thomasnilsson.eu/mediemakt/?p=2699
Since NENT (MTG Radio) has no more than four licenses in Stockholm, it was decided to put down the LUGNA FAVORITER format. It left a niche open to Bauer Media, which thus fills it with the similarly LUGNA KLASSIKER format. Bauer Media's format SVENSK POP will be broadcast on NRJ Group's radio license in Stockholm
