Hi Tomas. Not as far as I know, at least not yet. Paul Logan in Northern Ireland generally has more openings to the Canary Islands than other British DXers due to his location near the western extremity of Europe.

Last Sunday I and another DXer received the Azores on 87.7, so there has been conditions into the Atlantic.
Good DX.

Hi Tomas & Nick, I have read on various radio dx sites of reception many years ago during the Summer of Canary Island television signals reaching to the UK but i think is not possible now. I was in Gran Canaria last week and did not receive Morocco on FM which i think was strange given proximty the two locations? In 2 weeks i will be in Menorca staying in Port de Fornells and will be intresting listening for knowing which Countries can be heard or if DX can be received with Sporacdic 'E' While again at the same time i will be experimenting with homebuild FM antenne and BF961 amp during the flight to Mahon.

Say my name! (You're goddam right!) You mention two other DXer's names often enough when they receive anything exotic. What's going on here?

Really? Why not?

Of course it's possible. It happens! It even happens on tropo occasionally.

Did you also get the Azores last week John? I know Chris Howles did.

I did!

I've also had the Canaries twice since living in Skegness.

John i make reference for reception the television and not radio as i understand such transmissions have been received from the past during this time of year by dxers in Northern Europe. Today of course such television impossible because Spain and everywhere go digital and i also think fm can go the same way in future as Countries move toward DAB such transmission modes? Here in France we have DAB+ but 99% of the Country we are not aware it is available because no public publicity and DAB tuners are not openly sold but i find/ have a small Sony DAB radio from Darty but is good for FM and no for DAB DX

I certainly used to see the Canaries much more than Dxers from Britain but for some reason over the last couple of years they have not been turning up here as much, same for Madeira and the Azores. I have no explanation as to why. The usual "beacon" is 87.7 from Fuerteventura. I reckon most of my logs from the Canaries have been E skip plus tropo over the years. Later in the season always seemed better as well.

Hi all.
I recently built a remote listening station (blog: FeAntenna) in a privileged place (I think ...). It is in a small western island of my zone, quite depopulated, and with absence of industrial noise.
However, I have not heard any stations from the British Isles yet.
I do not have an explanation for it either. Previous years by now the U.K. would have been listened from Canary Islands.
I can not help thinking that it has been a lot of work to not get good results ... yet.
Best regards.

Tim :o Via tropo Canary Islands?, 3000 kms via tropo?. Apparently the limit of the tropo is around 1700-1800 kms... Be that as it may congratulations too.

Who told you about this tropo limit? It is not correct. Much further distances have been achieved. eg Hawaii to Mexico.
Edit: I have had around 2000 km tropo on a pocket radio
