Seems to be coming from the war museum, signal is very directional, it's perfect at my friends apartment at 8 smolna st street but absent at my place at 14 smolna.

Interesting channel, yesterday there was a strong relay of radio pogoda //88.4 with occasional TX breaks

Hey Tim.

It's nothing new. The signal you picked is Radio Jutrzenka ("The Dawning Star"),or full name: Polskie Radio Armii Krajowej Jutrzenka (Polish Army Radiostation Jutrzenka) - thus Radio AK in the PS. Contrary to what the name may suggest, the station does belong neither to our national broadcaster, Polskie Radio nor the army itself.
Radio Jutrzenka is a private initiative of Andrzej Cielecki, who was one of the soliders and defenders of Poland during WWII, especially during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, then in the following decades an activist of underground anticommunist movement. His major field of activity was broadcasting of course. Radio Jutrzenka was a pirate radio in its beginings which have roots as far as the early 80s, or even earlier, considering its fouders' activity. Sadly, , Mr. Cielecki passed couple of years ago.

The station become fully legal in the noughties, was granted a special type of licence, similar to what "community" licence in the UK is. It does not air any ads or sponsored programming. Radio Jutrzenka with its specialised type of speech-programming is seen as patriotic, documentary, historic.

The transmitter is situated in Dereniowa street, high rise bloc of flats in Ursynow, the southernmost borough od Warsaw. It is the only station in the captial broadcasting in horizontal polarisation sharply beamed to the north (az 0deg.). The power is not impressive, 100W.

It timeshares with commercial Radio Pogoda, with Polish and foreign oldies (very old oldies!) - 12h daily each, switching at midnight ans noon local time. Radio Pogoda broadcast from one of the sky scrapers in the centre and as its own full-time frequency: 88,4.

Hi Tim,

Someone has upload a video on Youtube about Andrzej Cielecki and Radio Jutrzenka. Sadly, there are no English captions in this video. Link here:

I don't know if this is up to date, but Mr Cielecki was running the station from his flat in Warsaw. You can see on the video the entire gear, squeezed in the small room.

Regards,
Zach
