Finally the new tower will start within the next weeks. Tests have been carried out this month on many frequencies after midnight.
Only even frequencies will be used (e.g. 90.0, 90.2, 90.4 etc.).
A new station will be Kiss FM on 91.6. Some existing stations may disappear as they may not be able to pay the monthly rent which includes all cost. Some stations have to readjust their present frequencies to the new channels. 108.0 will not be used.
Transmitter power will be 5kW max for all frequencies. There are 5 antenna groups: three with 8 bays, one with 6 bays and one with 3 bays. Polarization is mixed with the main direction 110°/290° and reduced power towards 20°/200°.

All over Turkey the following frequencies will not be used in the future: 92.5, 94.1, 95.7, 97.4, 99.0 and 108.0. More than 100 stations have to change their existing frequencies. Some have done that already

good DX, Kurt
Hi Kurt. Any idea on why those frequencies aren't going to be used across the whole country?
Good DX.

108.0 might be to protect air band, but all over the world the other listed frequencies are used with no problems.
92.5, 94.1, 95.7, 97.4 and 99.0 are separated by 1.6 MHz except the 95.7-97.4 pair, which is separated by 1.7 MHz. Maybe there is something problematic about the 1.6/1.7 MHz relationship?

By the way, what is going to happen in the band where it is full and some of these freqs are still being used? (like Adana that broadcasts 92,5 TRT-FM 94,1 Slowtürk 95,7 LokumFM)

(it is a shame that 92,5 TRT-FM is to change its frequency, it used to be the only one that I could receive over my 60kW local on 92,5)

Will TRT-FM Adana broadcast SFN with Iskenderun,or is that going to change its frequency too?

I can only quote the changes made by RTÜK. Else I have no information whatsoever. TRT is not updating its frequency lists since a long time.
I am not adding the planned frequencies to FMLIST until new frequencies are confirmed. There is still some time until the next Es season...

Is Metro staying the same?
Probably scanning the band atm. And definitely complaining about the conditions.

I can't see any changes for Metro FM all over Turkey. It seems even in Istanbul they will stay on their old frequency. There were already short tests without RDS from the new tower two days ago after midnight (interfering with their existing transmitter)

Starting tonight test transmissions will be carried out between 21:00 and 03:00 UTC from the new tower.
Regular transmissions shall start on September 10. All channels are on even frequencies (eg. 88.0, 88.2 etc).
Maybe OMs living in tropo distance can pick up these tests as there are extreme tropo conditions over the black sea and from the west

More than 90 FM stations have changed to the new tower in the night from September 20 to 21. The dismantling of the old transmitting towers has already started. Two new stations have started: Kiss FM on 91.6 and Radyo Klasik on 92.2.

All towers on Camlica hill have been removed. Demolishing works on the 40 year old TV tower have started as well.
