Elad FDM S2 weird images.

Hi all,

here's an odd question. Ever come home and turn on your Elad SDR to find weird images from your local FM transmitter at lowish but very annoying level all over the place?

I've seen this happen a few times and each time I have stopped the software turned off the rx restarted and it has (sometimes after a few attempts) stopped giving me a clean band again.

Tonight I can't get it to stop.

Anyone else seen this happen? Any ideas how to resolve it?

I ran my SDRPlay rsp1 and it isn't exhibiting the same signals so it isn't a fault at the transmitter.

I'm stumped.

And 18 hours later - the images are gone - answers on a postcard please.

no i'm still stumped
one afternoon in 1991 96.4 sprogged across the band on my sony ICF 2001D, i had to do homework so couldn't investigate.
when i came back it was gone

And it gets weirder. The images come and go - one thing is clear though - it happens when it rains and when things dry up - gone again. Bizarre.

Ah - you should have said that earlier....

Probably a loose connection somewhere which allows in moisture when raining. If you take out the coax earth connection on Band II signals you get some strange effects due to the high signal strengths.

have you got a large metal structure nearby?

Jodrell Bank Radio telescope re-radiates mixing products across the Band when it gets wet, luckily i very rarely get any dx of note in the rain and i can null it out anyway

low level signals and annoying at first when i thought my rx was overloading but now i know what they are they fascinate me

if its this and not a loose connection you may be surprised by some of the signals being reradiated - in my case Tacolneston as well as local crap

And it's at it again tonight. I'm not sure if it's moisture getting in somewhere but the aerial is due a good check up. If i add in the least little bit of attenuation the problem disappears. Odd.
