PLEASE READ: php error messages when making a new post

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness »

A member has just contacted me regarding php error messages which appear when making a new post. His post still appears but there is this annoying error message which gets in the way.

Please let me know if this happens to you.

I will have to look into this next week as I am now away until Monday.

All fingers are still crossed!

Problem found!

The board version is not up-to-date. Due to some conflict, the board is still running the older 3.2.2 version, even though the stated version is 3.2.8, so a simple forum update will be required. I will carry this out late one evening/very early in the morning. The new server php settings were wrong too.

I hope so Peter. So many difficulties with this update and transfer, as expected really. Not helped by the hosting company having php issues. A broken database and repair. A long, laborious process unfortunately. I am just glad I forewarned everybody of the potential problems we were likely to experience. It did turn into quite a stinker this time. Still a few mods to do, however, logo, etc. Later!

A BIG thank you to you all for your patience.

Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in 14 seconds.

I do not quite understand why is this?! Even when logged-in I will get this each time.

Very strange. It works here, but that's not much of a helpful answer.

So, is anybody else experiencing difficulties when using the search facility? I just tried a search for "Golden Meadow" and it brought up my recent log on 1600.

Make sure you are searching for something substantial, such as a short sentence if you can. Searching on anything less than three characters will not work, but this won't produce an error message. I'll make a general post in the announcements forum. Please respond there so we can keep the relevant messages together.

Thanks.
