Post by RingwayManchester »

Appears to be broadcasting old shows from DJ S from house of silk.

Endstopping on 87.7 in Stockport, Wythenshawe and everywhere inbetween.

Started on Saturday and still going strong now, received in Swinton, Poynton, Hazel Grove, Stockport, Wythenshawe, Denton.

Anyone else receiving? He’s on now.

Andy, what antenna do you use? Do you have a beam on a rotator?
Using Sony ST-SE920 QS with 5 element beam on rotator, and separate discone antenna

audio has improved somewhat and it now actually sounds like a radio broadcast and not a faulty PSU

it seems horizontally polarised oddly

Base FM has moved to 100.0
Info via Andy Webster
I don’t hear it anymore as my Aerial is designed for max resonance at the bottom of the band

I had a wander round the garden with a portable but 100.0 was totally owned by Classic FM from North Hessary Tor (tropo conditions)

Anyway good luck to them. 100 is a much cooler frequency
Easier for casual listeners to remember
And 87.7 will soon be full of Ramadan stations

Base FM was on low-power last time I went past, wasn't getting out very far. Not sure if they're back to full as they get out pretty well on full power.

Good job we rarely get any pirates down here blocking frequencies. That would drive me mad, especially if they shouldnt be there in the first place!

What about those that don't block frequencies? I agree that blocking a frequency that is in use by a station is bad, but if it's free then I don't see it as any issue (other than legal-wise). I guess if you're DXing then it may be annoying though. Still rather listen to a pirate (even if the music's not to my taste) as it's better than hearing cookie-cutter artists on mainstream stations all day :).

Aye - we have three free radio stations up here and I'd rather hear them occasionally than endless identikit Heart and Greatest Hits stations.

I meant blocking a frequency for DX.
