Alex Cator's loggings from East Harling, Norfolk, United Kingdom

25/07/2015 - Transatlantic Log

1510 USA - WMEX - Boston (Waverley) (MA) - 5308km - Presumed. Heard between around 0310 and 0355 UTC (0410 and 0455 BST). Weak American-accents heard, very weak, heard in many spots of the house. I did hear 'Or visit us at (something I couldn't make out) .com' along with what sounded like '..any women go to. I do.'. Only heard with ferrite rod antenna, heard in widest bandwidth setting ('6 kHz', which is apparently really 12 kHz). It was definitely 1510, not 1512. Slight QRM from BBC Radio Stoke 1503.

RX: Tecsun PL-390 with ferrite rod antenna
* = First time heard in East Harling. From a video I had taken, I presume I heard a weak WMEX another rainy morning on the car radio. The lack of solar activity (thanks to the rain) caused the good MW reception.
Home: Sony ST-SB920 (modified), Sony XDR-S10HDiP, Onkyo T-4970, Ford 5000 RDS, horizontal Triax FM3
Mobile: Ford Fiesta (Style, 2013) and Ford Focus (2012) car radios
Portable: Tecsun PL-390, Grundig G5 (2 x 110kHz), Etón G8
