Log from St Bees Head on the edge of the Lake District

Post by Sniffingmoose » 02 Jul 2015 23:33

I thought its about time a posted my log from my Lake district holiday back in May. Received on the car radio from the Car Park by the beech but also on a coast path walk around St Bees head on my Roberts Pocket DAB/FM radio.

Its not a full bandscan but I concentrated on the more interesting bits.

87.8 RTE R1 Clermont Cairn
88.1 BBC Radio 2 Sandale
88.4 BBC Radio 2 Douglas I.O.M.
88.7 BBC Radio 2 Cambret Hill
88.9 BBC Radio 2 LLangollen
89.3 BBC Radio 2 Holme Moss
89.9 BBC Radio 2 Black Hill
90.1 BBC Radio 2 Morcambe Bay
90.1 BBC Radio 2 Divis

91.2 Energy FM - Snaefel I.O.M.
92.5 BBC Radio 4 Sandale
92.8 BBC Radio 4 Douglas I.O.M.
93.1 BBC Radio Scotland Cambret Hill - Dumfries and Galloway.
93.3 BBC Radio 4 LLangollen
93.7 BBC Radio 4 Holme Moss
94.3 BBC Radio Scotland Black Hill
94.5 BBC Radio Ulster Divis
94.7 BBC Radio Scotland Sandale
95.6 BBC Radio Cumbria Sandale
95.8 BBC Radio 4 Black Hill
97.2 Manx Radio Douglass
96.0 BBC Radio 4 Divis
96.4 CFM Radio - Caldbeck
101.1 Classic FM Holme Moss
102.7 RTE Raidió na Gaeltachta - Clermont Carn
102.7 BBC Radio Leeds - Keighley
104.3 BBC Radio Cymru - Llangollen - This one gets everywhere!

So signals from 6 kingdoms - England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Local DAB from North East Wales 10D, Ayr 11B, Manchester 11c , Merseyside 11B, Lancashire 12A, and Northern Ireland 12D.

Mobile Phone Reception from Manx Telecom can you call this Microwave DX?

I suspect the Mountains on the Isle of Man were blocking signals from the Irish Republic. Clermont Carn was much weaker than Divis. I noticed that signals from Clermont Cairn were much stronger from the hills of the Southern Lake district then from St Bees head.
