Kazakhstan? on May 18th

Post by daveB »

Just around 08:00 UTC I got weak video on 59.2396 MHz, no MDA, RUS or UKR stations or now listed as active on that offset does that mean I've got double hop to Kazakhstan?? I was alerted to possible OIRT reception by FMList and found weak intermittent audio around 65.75 MHz, with nothing else on the band, so checked and found the weak video frames.

Do any of the TVDX 'old hands' know of a station not listed on TVList that it could be?

As I post this at 08:29 UTC audio from R3 is coming back and some FM activity.

Some increased activity on the OIRT band with stations from Belarus showing up in the same general direction. These are not strong and are fading in and out and are on the same general heading and at half the distance. Audio on 65.7936 and video on 59.2396 has been coming and going.

At 09:00 the OIRT band is opening up fully.

Some post disappeared or ended up on another thread. But the general info is MDA is still broadcasting analogue - the population is so poor they can't afford around £11 to buy a convertor. I also later found that although the TV frequency isn't listed on TVList, the audio frequency is listed on FMList.

Posted just to close the thread.

Sorry Dave. I think one of your posts was lost during the recent update. I had a notification that somebody had posted and I realised it was yourself just after the update has begun. It's always a risk when doing an update.

Moldova is still a nice catch. Thought they were gone on analogue already...

I received a carrier on 49750/59.250 at lunchtime today and Chris had 49.750 as well these were weak so no subcarriers showing so will keep monitoring.

Worth keeping a check on Chinese channels too, the way things are going. Or have they closed band 1 too?

29th May 2020 at 1645-50 UTC. Once again video on 59.23958 MHz. This time it was good enough tp make out the M! logo to confirm Moldova is still transmitting with this offset
